My dear one, Mr. Z. Shazar, the (-who is) good and sweeter than honey, who drinks thirstily from the waters of kindness, waters of daas (-realization of knowledge), and the understanding of the true Tzadik, to extinguish the heat of the heart which burns for the vanities of this world, fortunate is he, and fortunate is his lot. Shalom and life and all (that is) good, amen.

 

Today I arrived at my house, and I found his pleasant letter with the attached check of the amount of 100 one hundred lira, and behold there is no describing the satisfaction and the delight and the holy vitality that I had from this, spiritually and also physically, and I raised my palms/hands and my heart in prayer to the supernal G-d that he should give him (-speaking in third person) and to his house long life blessed with all types of salvations and successes as you (-in respectful plural) desire, and he should merit to draw the holy daas (-realization of knowledge) into the heart, to rectify and to refine and to purify the heart from all (worldly) desires, and he should be able to surmount to bring to fruition all his good and eminent thoughts and yearnings which are hidden from the eyes of people.

 

Who loves him with the love of David and Jonathon, who supplicates for his well being and his health and his eternal benefit.

Hereby I send him (-you in third person) a letter which I received today from his true friend, and I notify him that I am truly far from the praises that he wrote about me, as the distance between east and west.

יקירי, מר ז.שזר, הטוב ומתוק מדבש, השותה בצמא מימי החסד מימי הדעת, והתבונה של הצדיק האמת לכבות חימום הלב הבוער להבלי עולם הזה, אשרי לו ואשרי חלקו. שלום וחיים וכל טוב, אמן.

היום הגעתי לביתי ומצאתי מכתבו הנעים בצרוף הצ'יק על סך 100 ל"י, והנה אין לתאר הנחת רוח והעונג והחיות דקדושה שהיה לי מזה ברוחני וגם בגשמי, ונשאתי כפי וליבי בתפילה לאל עליון שיתן לו ולביתו חיים ארוכים וברוכים בכל מיני ישועות והצלחות כאוות נפשכם, ויזכה להמשיך הדעת הקדוש לתוך הלב, לתקן ולזכך ולטהר הלב מכל התאוות, ויוכל להתגבר להוציא לפועל כל מחשבותיו ותשוקותיו הטובות והנעלות הנעלמות מעיני בני אדם.

אוהבו אהבת דוד ויהונתן, המעתיר בעד שלומו ובריאותו וטובתו הנצחי.
