Reb Efraim author of the letters Oneg Yom Tov

HH in Europe before world war 2 there was an enormous gaon extremely proficient in the entire Torah, Rabbi Efraim author of the letters published as Oneg Yom Tov, when he found about Breslov he renounced his title as rabbi and posek, and saw himself as a peer to the most simplest and ignorant Jew.
Due to his vast knowledge and mastery of the Torah it was particularly difficult for him to bear witnessing the way people cleaned up the table on Shabbos, and so he insisted that only he would be tasked with the clean up. Once when he was cleaning the table after the Shabbos meal, people saw that he was extremely perplexed not knowing how to proceed, and they watched him pace for over an hour until he figured out what to do.

HH
Reb Efraim knew from Rabbainu the great importance of the holy Land, and he yearned and strived and did everything in his power until eventually and miraculously he was able to move there, and in so doing he saved himself and family from extermination by the Nazis may their name be blotted out. Reb Efraim had a friend who was also an enormous gaon and tzadik and who also renounced being a rabbi to become completely abnegated to the holy ways of Rabbainu (I forgot his name), he also had intense yearning and desire to make it to Israel, and once he even set out on foot - to fulfill what Rabbainu said that to go to Israel one must go (even) by foot, but because he was very weak and sickly and penniless, he didn't make it very far and they had to bring him back to his home. Unfortunately he and his whole family were murdered by the nazis may their name be blotted out.
