Blossoms of the Spring - Letter 64: Anti-philosophy – only wholeheartedness and simplicity…

 Letter 64  

BH, 11^th of Shevat [5]722 (Tuesday – January 16, 1962).

 

My bone and flesh, Mr. Z. Shazar – who is bound with strong knots to the wondrous tree that is extremely holy and awesome, which is the True Tzaddik who stands for us as refuge and a shield for all generations; and He enlivens and strengthens our soul with all sorts of scents and perfumes of the awesomeness of His Torah. Fortunate are you, that you have merited to know from the Master of Wonders – that all His words are wonders, wonders of wonders which cannot be fathomed, to eradicate and nullify all the apostasies and the false beliefs, and to draw the whole world close to God, blessed He.

 

The main ultimate purpose and completeness is only to serve God with complete simplicity – without any wisdoms whatsoever. For there are philosophers that say that the main purpose is through analyzations and their outer wisdoms; and they spend their days in the world analyzing and attaining the conceptions, and by them this is the ultimate purpose. But in truth, the main attainment of the ultimate purpose and the World to Come is only by way of faith and [the performing of] Divine commandments of actions – to serve God with complete wholeheartedness and simplicity; and through this itself one merits to what he merits {An eye has not seen it etc.}. But in truth, the main attainment of the ultimate purpose is only by way of faith and wholeheartedness specifically, that is, fear of Heaven, and [the performing of] Divine commandments of actions with total simplicity; and through this itself one merits to that which he merits.

 

Prayer changes the nature [i.e., nature’s course], and the wisdoms and analyzations which [all] go in accordance with nature get nullified.

 

The scientists and the heretics explain the whole Torah in accordance with their wisdoms and apostasies, and even Mitzvos [Divine commandments] of actions – they construe it all based on their form [Tzurah] and rationalities, and they deny in the performance of Mitzvos. Fortunate is he who doesn’t know from them at all. And the main subduing of them is through the Tzaddik who is of extremely great, and wild stature – whose main matter is prayer, for prayer changes the nature.

עצמי ובשרי, מר ז.שזר, הקשור בקשרים חזקים בהאילן הנפלא, הקדוש ונורא מאד, שהוא הצדיק האמת, העומד לנו למחסה ולמגן לדור דור, ומחייה ומחזק את נפשנו בכל מיני ריחין ובוסמין של נוראות תורתו. אשריך שזכית לידע מבעל הנפלאות, שכל דבריו נפלאות, פלאי פלאות עד אין חקר, לבער ולבטל כל הכפירות ואמונות כזביות, ולהמשיך ולקרב כל העולם להשם יתברך.

עיקר התכלית והשלמות הוא רק לעבוד ה' בתמימות גמור, בלי שום חכמות כלל. כי יש מחקרים שאומרים, שעיקר התכלית הוא על ידי חקירות וחכמות חיצוניות שלהם, והם מבלים ימיהם בעולם הזה לחקור ולהשיג המושכלות, וזהו התכלית אצלם. אבל באמת, עיקר השגת התכלית והעולם הבא הוא רק על ידי אמונה ומצוות מעשיות, לעבוד ה' בתמימות ובפשיטות גמור, ועל ידי זה בעצמו זוכין למה שזוכין {עין לא ראתה וכו'}. אבל באמת, עיקר השגת התכלית הוא רק על ידי אמונה ותמימות דייקא, דהיינו יראת ה' ומצוות מעשיות בפשיטות גמור, ועל ידי זה בעצמו זוכין למה שזוכין.

התפילה משנה הטבע, ונתבטלין החכמות והחקירות שהם הולכים על פי הטבע.

המחקרים והכופרים מפרשים כל התורה כולה על פי חכמות ואפיקורסות שלהם, ואפילו מצוות מעשיות, מפרשים הכל על פי צורה ושכליות שלהם, וכופרים בעשיית המצוות. אשרי מי שאינו יודע מהם כלל. ועיקר הכנעתם, על ידי הצדיק האמת הגדול במעלה מופלגת מאד, שעיקר ענינו הוא תפילה, כי תפילה משנה הטבע.
