Letter 114

Baruch Hashem. 7 Iyar, [5]727 (Wednesday – May 17, 1967).

In honor of the president of Israel, the delight of my eye, Mr. S. Z. Shazar. Peace and blessing.

My heart and soul are extremely, extremely faithful to you, and even now as well, amidst the forcefulness of my pain and weakness – may you be spared – I am overcoming with all my strength to stand before God to pray for [lit. on] you that He should make your way successful; and in each and every country, in each and every place that you go and tread there, God should give you charm and good intelligence in the eyes of the officials and nations; and you should produce effects as is your desire for the sake of the good of our nation and holy land – for this alone is your whole essential intention in your journey, going, and shlepping.

While you haven’t yet placed your feet to depart for the journey, do not forget to take with you the old and small book, “Kitzur Likutei Moharan” [The Abridged Likutei Moharan], so that it should shield over you on the way. God should guard your going out, and your coming in for life, happiness, and peace.

Your faithful lover and servant who blesses you with all [my] heart and soul, and [who] anticipates and yearns – when will the time come that I will merit to see you all the time sated with joy, and to speak from the awesomeness [and] greatness of the True Tzaddik:

בטרם תשים פעמיך לצאת לדרך אל תשכח לקחת אתך הספר הישן הקטן "קיצור לקוטי מוהר"ן" שיגן עליך בדרך, ה" ישמור צאתך ובואך לחיים ושמחה ושלום.

אוהבך ועבדך הנאמן המברכך בכל לב ונפש, ומצפה ומתגעגע מתי יגיע העת שאזכה לראותך בכל פעם בשובע שמחות ולדבר מנוראות גדולת הצדיק האמת.
