161. The controversy elevates and raises the person.

The controversy elevates and raises the person because “man is the tree of the field” [Deuteronomy 20]. A tree on the ground cannot rise alone, only when flooding waters come, lifting it. Controversy is called water, as in “They surrounded me like water all day; they encircled me together” [Psalms 88].
