Likutay Moharan - Volume 2 - Torah-teaching 76

Likutay Moharan II Torah 76
Likutay Moharan II Torah 76: Israel Becomes Masters Over Their Masters

Israel becomes masters over their masters, as our Sages, of blessed memory, said (Sanhedrin 104a): “In every place where they go, they become officers to their masters.” For in every place where they come in the galus [exile], at first they are subdued in the galus, but afterward they become masters over their masters. For afterward, they conquer that place where they come in the galus. For Israel raises and elevates all the lowly and fallen places, as our Sages, of blessed memory, said (Megillah 6a): “The theaters and circuses are destined to have Torah taught in them publicly, as it is said: ‘And he too shall remain for our G-d’” (Zechariah 9:7) (see there). For Israel elevates and raises all the fallen places. Therefore, they are called Israel in the galus, sons of the galus. For even though afterward they become masters and establish, raise, and elevate everything, nevertheless, at first they are in the galus. For even so, they wander and roam in the galus. But afterward, they elevate and raise everything, as mentioned above. Therefore, they are called sons of the galus, for this is the letters of גּוֹלָה [galus], the initial letters of: “And he too shall remain for our G-d” (וְנִשְׁאָר גַּם הוּא לֵאלקֵינו). For afterward, they elevate and raise everything, in the aspect of: “And he too shall remain for our G-d,” as our Sages, of blessed memory, said: The theaters and circuses, and so forth, as mentioned above.
