Letter 129

Baruch Hashem. 6 Adar Ⅰ, [5]733 (Thursday – Feb. 8, 1973).

In honor of the president of Israel, the apple of my eye and heart, Mr. S. Z. Shazar – which God has given him an understanding heart in order to understand the secret of the awesomeness [and] greatness of the Gushing Stream who revealed new things, great wonders which are unfathomable – which with them He will extract us from within the depth of the downfall and concealment, and He will rectify everything in completeness. May he carry blessing and salvation from Hashem (See Psalms 24:5), Amen.

The fire of my love to you which blazes in my heart will always burn, and it will never ever get extinguished – great, mighty waters will not be capable of extinguishing it, God forbid. We need to be constantly together even though we aren’t seeing each other – for the bodies are distanced, but the souls are extremely close, for we are bound together in the true truth, the Gushing Stream – which He is all of our hope and lifeforce for all generations, for eternity. The magnitude of pain I have from your pain, from the illness of your precious wife, is immeasurable – for your pain is mamesh [actually / for real] my pain. With a bitter heart I pour out much tears in my prayer and entreaty before God who hears the prayer of every mouth, so that He should have mercy upon us with His great compassion and remove her illness from her; He should send His word and heal her, and she should return to her [original] strength in completeness, speedily, Amen.

My heart exults, jubilates, and rejoices to inform you that on Sunday, 2 Adar Ⅰ, I merited to receive by way of his designated messenger, his large donation amounting to the sum of three-hundred Israeli Liras. He extremely enlivened my soul with this, for now after the operations I am in need of recuperation. Also, I am happy to inform him that on the eve of the recent Festival of Sukkot, his doubled, tripled, and quadrupled donation amounting to the sum of four-hundred Israeli Liras reached my hands; and because of my harsh sickness I wasn’t capable of writing a receipt, and I wasn’t able to properly fulfill the [Divine] Commandment of Sukkah. In the month of Cheshvan, I entered Hadassah Hospital under the supervision of Professor Zaltz, and I underwent three operations and I was in grave danger. And through the magnitude of God’s loving-kindness, I exited in peace with a miracle and wonder. Awaiting [/Guarded] in my heart is all the good that you have benefited me from then and of yore until now; and it is guarded and sealed in the storehouse of the King for eternity of eternities. Thousands of thanks and thunderous acclaim of charm from the depths of my heart; God shall repay [for] his good act and put him before Him constantly for loving-kindness and compassion, and He shall fulfill all his wishes for good, and He shall give speedily a complete recovery to his precious wife, Rachel, the daughter of Zelda, Amen, so may it be [God’s] will.

Many worlds are in an uproar and trembling from his wondrous action with his publishing of the holy book, “Ebay Hanachal” [Blossoms of the Spring]. Exceptional Torah greats have drawn close through it, and it has made many true Baalei Teshuvah [people whom repent and return]. We have what to rejoice with this; fortunate are you and fortunate is your portion in that you have merited to that.

אש אהבתי אליך הבוער בלבי תמיד תוקד ולא תכבה לעולם, מים רבים אדירים לא יוכלו לכבותה ח"ו, אנחנו צריכים להיות תמיד ביחד אפילו שאין אנו רואים זה את זה, כי הגופים רחוקים אבל הנפשות קרובים מאד, כי אנחנו קשורים יחד בהאמת האמתי הנחל נובע שהוא כל תקותינו וחיותינו לדור דור לנצח. גודל הצער שיש לי מצערך ממחלת רעייתך היקרה אין לשער כי צערך הוא צערי ממש, בלב מר אני שופך דמעות הרבה בתפלתי ובקשתי לפני ה" השומע תפלת כל פה שברחמיו הגדולים ירחם עלינו ויסיר ממנה מחלתה ישלח דברו וירפא אותה ותשוב לאיתנה בשלימות מהרה אמן

עלז לבי ושש ושמח להודיעך כי ביום ראשון ב" אדר א" זכיתי לקבל על ידי שליחו המיוחד את תרומתו הגדולה על סך שלוש מאות לירות י" מאד החיה את נפשי בזה, כי עכשיו אחרי הנתוחים אני זקוק להבראה, גם אשמח להודיעו כי ביום ערב חג הסוכות העבר הגיע לידי תרומתו הכפול ומשולש ומרובע על סך ארבע מאות לירות ישראליות, ומפאת מחלתי הקשה לא יכולתי לכתוב קבלה ולא יכולתי לקיים מצות סוכה כראוי, בחודש חשון נכנסתי לבי"ח הדסה תחת פקוח פרופ" זאלץ, ועברתי שלש נתוחים והייתי בסכנה גדולה ובגודל חסדי ה" בנס ופלא יצאתי בשלום. שמור בלבי כל הטובות אשר היטבת עמדי מאז ומקדם עד הנה ושמור וחתום באוצר המלך לנצח נצחים, אלפי תודות ותשואות חן מעמקי לבבי ישלם ה" פעלו הטוב ויתנהו לחסד ולרחמים לפניו תמיד וימלא כל חפצו לטובה וירחם ויתן מהרה רפואה שלימה לרעייתו היקרה רחל בת זלדה אמן כן יהי רצון.

הרבה עולמות רועשים ומזדעזין מפעולתו הפליאה בהוצאתו הספר הקדוש "אבי הנחל" גדולי תורה מצויינים נתקרבו על ידו ועשה בעלי תשובה אמתיים הרבה. יש לנו לשמוח מאד בזה, אשריך ואשרי חלקך שזכית לכך.
