Letter 133[1]

Peace to the beloved of my heart, who longs and pants to behold the sights of the hidden brilliances, Mr. Z. Shazar. Be strong, be strong exceedingly, because fortunate are you in that you have merited to touch such wonders [and] awesomeness.

In these days of ours, a marauder has come within our borders, and he is the head of all our tormentors. He has placed an iron siege upon us, buries mines in our pathways, [and] he sharpens his eyes and gnashes his teeth at us to make pretense and pounce upon us in order to eradicate and destroy us from our Judaism. And each and every day the cup of his poisons renews and intensifies against us in order to give us to drink [therefrom], and it’s not within [our] capacity to stand up against him whatsoever. Therefore, God performed wonders with us and He preempted the cure to our blows, and he brought down for us the True Tzaddik, the Chosen One from the Chosen Tzaddikim, [the] Gushing Stream, Source of Wisdom – in order to water all the land with wisdom and knowledge of God with His deep solutions and rectifications, to purify impure ones, to wash the filthy [with excrement], to merit the guilty, to redeem [us] from the load of sins, to atone [for] willful sinners, to gather the lost, to release those imprisoned, [and] to give freedom to captives.
