Blossoms of the Spring - Letter 68: Anticipation ahead of Rosh Hashana

 Letter 68 

 

BH, the night of the 4^th day of Elul, [5]722 (Sunday – September 2, 1962), Tel-Aviv.

 

My bone and flesh, Mr. Z. Shazar – who possesses a strong and forceful heart to clothe himself with a mighty spirit in order to wage God’s war: To subdue the filth of the falsehood of the apostasies and false beliefs, and to enlarge and make famous the Name of the True Tzaddik who goes before us, and with His extremely great and awesome power He will rectify also me, also you, [and] also the whole world as it is now. Peace, life, and a good inscription and signing [on Rosh Hashana].

 

The attachment that is between us, and all that which you have heard from me of the secret of the awesomeness of the greatness of the True Tzaddik – it is not something small, for it is a great, deep, and awesome story which is impossible to fathom, “and if a sage shall declare that he knows, he will not be able to discover [/to understand]” (Ecclesiastes 8:17 – the translation is based on Rashi). Therefore, my brother, see, understand, and become wise, and remember all the things that you have heard. And I – my eyes are anticipating and hoping to God that it should sprout through this your eternal salvation to draw close to God, blessed He. The year has already passed, and it has flown with great speed, and [we] are drawing close to the days of Rosh Hashana; and begin to bless in your mind, “that He has enlivened us, and brought us and sustained us to this time” which is the holy Rosh Hashana, in that we will merit then to reunite within the holy gathering of the Tzaddik who knows the matter of Rosh Hashana to its depths. And the power of the wondrous and awesome loving-kindness of Rosh Hashana that the Tzaddik draws shall shield and be of assistance for you and your family [lit. house]. Peace, life, and all the best.

 

If indeed, my mind currently isn’t clear, and there aren’t words with me because of the harsh and bitter agony that passes over me, not on you; however, out of the intenseness of your love that is in my heart, I forced myself to speak with you for the sake of your eternal good. For I know that your heart in its interiority exceedingly longs to draw close to God, blessed He, in truth; and God, blessed He, shall place words in my mouth in a way that I will produce an effect – in order that you have it good forever. Each person by way of his sins causes the departure [/passing away] of the light of His Divineness, blessed He, through which one cannot know from God, blessed He, God forbid. And the main rectification of ours, and of all the sins from [throughout] all the generations is exclusively through the Tzaddik who is our true shepherd – who draws close all the estranged and rejected ones, so that all will return to God, blessed He, in truth, and they shall [remain] standing in their place – so that they shouldn’t become despondent [/depressed – lit. fall in their minds] from all that goes over them, be it as it may; only to begin anew each time with the power of the loving-kindness that the Tzaddik has drawn in the world.

 

The primary revelation of His Divineness and dominion, blessed He, for all those who traverse the world is through the aspect of ‘memory’ [zikaron] – that one needs to extremely guard the memory. And the main memory is to very much overcome in order to thoroughly bind to one’s brain and mind the light of the holy and awesome radiance [/flash] that the Tzaddik shines for each person, at all times. And as long as the Daas [realization of knowledge] of the Tzaddik isn’t thoroughly drawn within the heart – until he won’t forget it forever – then, he still doesn’t know from Him, blessed He, whatsoever.

עצמי ובשרי, מר ז.שזר, שיש לו לב חזק ותקיף ללבוש רוח גבורה ללחום מלחמת ה' להכניע זוהמת השקר של המינות ואמונות כזביות, ולהגדיל ולפאר ולפרסם שם הצדיק האמת ההולך לפנינו ובכוחו הגדול והנורא מאד יתקן גם אותי גם אותך גם את כל העולם כמו שהוא עתה. שלום וחיים וכתיבה וחתימה טובה.

הקשר אשר בינינו, וכל מה ששמעת ממני מסוד נוראות גדולת הצדיק האמת לא דבר קטן הוא, כי הוא מעשה גדולה עמוקה ונוראה שאי אפשר לשער, ואם יאמר החכם לדעת לא יוכל למצוא. לכן אחי, ראה והבן וחכם וזכור היטב כל הדברים ששמעת. ואני עיני צופיות ומייחלות לה' שיצמח על ידי זה ישועתך הנצחית להתקרב לה' יתברך. כבר עברה השנה ופרחה במהירות רבה, ומתקרבים לימי ראש השנה, ותתחיל לברך במחשבתך שהחיינו והגיענו וקיימנו לזמן הזה שהוא ראש השנה הקדוש, שנזכה אז להתועד יחד בתוך הקיבוץ הקדוש של הצדיק שיודע ענין ראש השנה לעומקא, וכוח החסד הנפלא והנורא של ראש השנה שממשיך הצדיק יגן ויעזור לך ולביתך, שלום וחיים וכל טוב.

אם אמנם כעת אין דעתי צלולה ואין עימי דברים מחמת היסורים הקשים והמרים העובר עלי, לא עליך, אך מעוצם אהבתך אשר בליבי הכרחתי עצמי לדבר עימך לטובתך הנצחי, כי אני יודע שליבך בפנימיות נכסף מאד להתקרב לה' יתברך באמת, וה' יתברך ישים מילים בפי באופן שאפעל למען ייטב לך לעד. כל אחד על ידי חטאיו גורם הסתלקות אור אלקותו יתברך, שעל ידי זה אין יכולים לידע מה' יתברך חס ושלום. ועיקר התיקון שלנו ושל חטאי כל הדורות הוא רק על ידי הצדיק שהוא הרועה שלנו האמיתי שמקרב כל הרחוקים והנדחים, שכולם ישובו לה' יתברך באמת, ויעמדו על עמדם, שלא יפלו בדעתם מכל מה שעבר עליהם יהיה איך שיהיה. רק להתחיל בכל פעם מחדש, בכוח החסד חינם שהמשיך הצדיק בעולם.

עיקר התגלות אלקותו ומלכותו יתברך לכל באי עולם הוא על ידי בחינת זכרון, שצריכים לשמור את הזכרון מאד, ועיקר הזכרון הוא להתגבר מאד לקשר היטב במוחו ובדעתו אור הזריחה הקדוש והנורא שמאיר הצדיק לכל אחד בכל עת. וכל זמן שלא נמשך דעת הצדיק לתוך הלב היטב עד שלא נשכח אותו לעולם אזי עדיין אין יודעים ממנו יתברך כלל.
