In the womb an angel teaches us the entire Torah and then before we are born he gives a little pahtch and we forget it all. It is said that this is the indentation running from below our nose to our mouth. Why there?
According to the Zohar and the Arizal this area is associated with the Divine Attribute of CHANOON, and the Ramchal revealed that this is a root of the spirit of forgiveness that Hashem has on our sins, and one should have this in mind in the blessing of forgiveness - CHANOON hamarbeh lisloach.
Our Sages revealed and Rabbi Nussun elaborated that had Hashem created the world just with the aspect of Torah the world wouldn't have stood a chance. Hashem had to create from the paradigm of teshuva - repentance. This is why although we are taught all the Torah, before we enter the world we are given to forget the Torah and we are rooted in the paradigm of teshuva.
