 Letter 111 

 

With the Help of God. 9 Nissan, [5]727 (Wednesday – April 19, 1967).

 

In honor of the president of Israel, the delight of my heart, Mr. Sh. Z. Shazar – [who is] great in understanding and deep of thought in order to tunnel and find the waters which therefrom the holy faith will sprout in these generations of ours for all those whom traverse the world: A strong and upright faith, a complete, pure, brilliant, and clear faith; and they [the whole world] will all be formed into one union to know God and to serve Him with one accord. Much peace.

This is the day that I received his heartful blessing together with the check amounting to the sum of one-hundred Israeli Liras from the 7^th day of Nissan, [5]727. I will rejoice and be happy with all my heart in that I have found favor and additional affection in your good and pleasant heart, and you have increased your goodness and loving-kindness with me so much so. From the depths of my heart, I express to the honorable personage of your exalted soul shout-outs of charming grace, charming grace and much thanks and blessings for your wondrous love to me. My eyes and heart are spread out to God in prayer and entreaties that He should grace you with favor and loving-kindness, and He should hurry and hasten for [the sake of] your salvation, and He should heal you with a complete healing speedily, and He should guard and save you from all sorts of sickness and pain, God forbid. And He should magnify your wellbeing and the wellbeing of your household for a good, long, healthy, and fresh life in the merit of the Gushing Stream, the Source of Wisdom from Uman. Amen, so may it be [God’s] will.

Due to the multitude of my sins, God has sent upon me for my good, harsh suffering and immense pains in my legs and intestines, may we be spared. I am lying in bed and crying before God over the nullification of Torah and prayer. Also, I don’t merit to go to the synagogue and to the Mikveh [ritual bath] as is my [usual] way, to immerse every day in a Mikveh. I extremely beseech you to strengthen yourself to pray that God should have mercy on me, and He should send me speedily a complete recovery from Heaven; and all the judgements [dinim] shall become sweetened from upon us and from upon all the Jewish people. [We] need to believe that we also are inscribed in the heart of the True Tzaddik, and He knows our suffering and engages in our healing and salvation for all generations for eternity.

Trust in God and pray to Him, and greatly strengthen yourself in the joy of the Festival in which God performed with us awesome miracles and wonders – the [exact] opposite of the nature. For now, we need to strengthen more in happiness which is a healing for all the plagues and all the sicknesses – in particular on this holy Festival. For on the night of the Passover Seder, all the ten types of melody and song are then aroused – from which [come] all the healings in body and soul, for us and for all the Jewish people. Amen, so may it be [God’s] will.

זה היום קבלתי את ברכתו הלבבי בצירוף המחאה על סך מאה לירות ישראליות מיום ז.ניסן תשכ"ז. אגילה ואשמחה בכל לבי אשר מצאתי חן וחבה יתירה בלבך הטוב והנעים, ותגדל טובתך וחסדך עמדי כל כך. מעמקי לבבי אביע לכבוד מעלת נפשך הרם תשואות חן חן ורב תודות וברכות על פלאות אהבתך אלי, עיני ולבי פרושות לה' בתפלה ותחנונים שיחננך בחן וחסד וימהר ויחיש לישועתך וירפאך רפואה שלימה מהרה, וישמור ויציל אותך מכל מיני מחלה וכאב ח"ו. ויגדיל שלומך ושלום ביתך לחיים טובים ארוכים בריאים ורעננים בזכות הנחל נובע מקור חכמה מאומן אמן כן יהי רצון.

בעונותי הרבים שלח ה' עלי לטובתי יסורים קשים וכאבים עצומים ברגלי ובמעיי ל"ע אני שוכב במטה ובוכה לפני ה' על ביטול תורה ותפלה. גם איני זוכה לילך לבית הכנסת ולמקוה כדרכי לטבול בכל יום במקוה. אבקשך מאד להתחזק להתפלל שירחם ה' עלי וישלח לי מהרה רפואה שלמה מן השמים. וימתקו כל הדינים מעלינו ומעל ישראל. צריכים להאמין כי גם אנחנו נרשמים בלבו של הצדיק האמת והוא יודע מכאובינו ועוסק ברפואותינו וישועתינו לדור דור לנצח.

בטח בה" ותתפלל אליו, ולהתחזק מאד בשמחת הרגל שבו עשה ה" עמנו נסים ונפלאות נוראות להיפך מן הטבע, כי עתה אנחנו צריכים להתחזק יותר בשמחה שהוא רפואה לכל המכות ולכל החולאת בפרט בחג הקדוש הזה, כי בליל הסדר של פסח נתעוררין אז כל העשרה מיני ניגון לשיר שמהם כל הרפואות בגוף ונפש לנו ולכל ישראל אמן כן יהי רצון.
