There are two famous quotes from Rabbeinu: "There is no despair in the world whatsoever!" and "A person should throw aside their sechel and rely only on emunah."
It recently occurred to me that the second idea can be used to explain the first one.
When it seems to a person that there is no way out and that despair is their only option, it's their mind talking. So they should throw aside the mind and put their complete trust in Rabbeinu, who said that it's forbidden to succumb to despair because it's doesn't really exist!
