This is something I should have posted for Purim, and had intended to do so, but it just never happened, so better late than never.

Saba
told over how Rabbi Yisroel Karduner would drink on Purim, that it
was visible how with each second that passed, Rabbi Yisroel left this
world and entered a different world. This is amazing, because it is
said of the holy Rabbi Chaim of Sanz that before drinking on Purim he
was heard saying to HY, how it was clear and known on high how
utterly precious state of his mind is, but to keep the mitzva of
Purim, he would relinquish and let it get distorted. Yet Rabbi
Yisroel, in keeping this very mitzva of Purim was able to ascend.
There is a great deal to be learned from this, but it is not in me to
elaborate now.
