Hashem wants to see us - His children - happy!

History has produced and seen many great personages, people who completely abnegated themselves for H"Y, His Torah, His people, and all humanity. The took no enjoyment from this world, giving everything they had for H"Y. It seems to me that today, although we all must aspire to give of ourselves as much as possible, H"Y doesn't expect that type of devotion from us, or at least not at the level of where I'm standing. What H"Y really wants from us is to just be appreciative, to be good happy children. Shlomo Carlbach always used to say in the name of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov - Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman - the greatest sin is be sad. Any parent can understand this, the main thing a parent wants to see is that his children are happy. Not always can a child be achieving, and often children do terrible things, the parent has to contend with that, but the parent just wishes that the child is happy (even those tortured parents that don't have the vessels to burden their childrens' misconduct, deep inside they are completely contingent on their happiness, it's just that they get caught up and overwhelmed with the responsibility). So obviously this is H"Y's main desire, to see us happy. B"H no one will openly blaspheme C"V, but when a person is sad, that itself is blasphemy (the Baal HaSulam writes this explicitly), and when he/she is happy, that is the greatest praise and exultation of H"Y (of course one has to be happy, and scoffing, drunkenness, and the like doesn't cut the bill). B"H when we are doing a great mitzva - good deed - we celebrate with a festive meal, like on the completion of learning a holy book, at a circumcision, etc., the holy books extol these celebrations tremendously. B"H no one is making a celebration when they fall into error and sin, however small or big. However even when we fall C"V, we should be celebrating what we still have, we might have missed out on a mitzva or actually done something wrong, but we still have the most precious thing of all, our complete faith in H"Y with Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman! That's what H"Y wants to see from us, that we are always happy and excited to be doing His thing, the Nanach thing. And even when we fall from the excitement, because one can never be a constant state of excitement, we are still ever strong and resolute in our good fortune, "ashreinu" and we're anticipating the Goodness of H"Y with Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman.
