When one is zealous with the zeal of Hashem of Hosts, it is considered like charity.

When one is zealous with the zeal of Hashem [Hashem – the Name, referring to G-d] of Hosts, it is considered like charity [tzedakah – righteous giving]. As the Tosafot wrote in the chapter of the partners on what our sages, of blessed memory, said (Bava Batra 10b): “Charity [tzedakah] exalts a nation,” these are Yisrael, “and kindness to the nations is a sin,” these are the idol-worshippers, that all the kindness they do, etc., and they brought a proof from Nevuzaradan, see there. And the Tosafot wrote there: And Nevuzaradan did then charity [tzedakah], that he was zealous for the Holy One, blessed be He.
