The Zohar and other holy books make it very clear how damaging the Nidda (menstruating woman) is. The Ramban in his commentary on the Torah says that this was common knowledge in days of yore, that even looking at the reflection of a nidda is damaging.
So take a look at the woman herself, she undergoes a few days a month of utter subjection to the afflictions of nidda, and pulls through to purity. Quite phenomenal if you think about it!
Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman!
