When a person has things under control, and he is completely dedicated to serving HY, then he must guard his health, his eating, and sleeping etc..But when Gd forbid he falls and goes off on some lusting of his heart, whatever it maybe, then he throws aside almost all concerns and goes all out in his pursuit of whatever emptiness possesses him.
This is a glaring advantage the those fallen times have over the good times. Some people say that is the way it is, and some say that ultimately a person even in his good times, must sometimes throw away all the restraints and concerns and pursue HY in prayer and Torah with all he has.

The Choice is Simple Relatively

The holier the levels are, the less discernible they are one from another, whereas the difference between the permissible and the forbidden will be quite distinct (there are exceptions to this, as is known by the lots cast on Yom Kippur on the identical goats, sometimes the arch evil masquerades as a pious rabbi) [this is an obvious concept, recently I saw it brought down in Shem Mishmuel, Parshas Key Saytzay from his father the Avnay Nayzer]. 

In previous good time, the righteous ascended higher and higher and a good part of their devotion was to figure out and clarify their position and holiness, to realize the higher level.

In our times - generally speaking - Hashem has made it easy for us, we mainly just have to choose between good and bad, what is permitted and what is forbidden, even though because of the absolute darkness and obscurity of morality in the world now, even this simple differentiation can be challenging, if one is resolute and determined to do what is right and not do what is wrong, he will readily see and know. This is what Rabbainu said that nowadays we need not worry so much exactly what we are doing, the main thing is that we should not do what is wrong, and then as long as we are trying to do good, that is the ultimate success for our time.

The reason for this I believe, is because the tikun now is what the Ramchal explains from the Zohar - the Tikun of the End. All we need to do is connect everything here at the end to holiness.

אין מרחמים אלא על מי שיש לו דעת

ראיתי אפילו חברים טובים שהתחילו לפרסם נגד השקר של הקורונה, וגם לי יש תאוה גדולה לזו, מי יכול לסבול את השקר הזה, השוד והעושק והרציחה והשעבוד וכו' וכו'. אכן צדיק הוא ה', כי אין מרחמים אלא על מי שיש לו דעת, ובעוונותינו הרבים חסר לנו הדעת, חסר לנו רבינו - נ נח נחמ נחמן מאומן. העם בעצמם בחרו באלו ששולטים עליהם והפכו אותם לנעשקים כלואים עבדים. לא משנה ביבי או שום פוליטקאי אחר, היה אותו סיפור, זה כמעט בכל העולם ככה, ועם כל זה העם בחרו בדרך הזה לאבד זכיותם וחירות שלהם. והרי ג' פעמים הציגו את רבינו בבחירות - מפלגת כולנו חברים נ נח - ורק אחדים - הרבה פחות מג' אלפים - בחרו ברבינו. אפילו שיש רבבות שנוסעים לרבינו לאומן לראש השנה, לא היה להם שכל לבחור ברבינו. ואפילו חברים טובים יקרים לא זכו ועוד התנגדו בתוקף על רבינו. אז ג' פעמים כבר חזקה, ורבינו לא צריך להשאר שם בבזיון, ואז קבלו ממשלה כפולה לרע. 

וכמו בסיפורי מעשיות משנים קדמוניות, מעשה ממלך ענו, שכל המדינה היתה מלאה שקר ועושק וכו', והמלך היה מסתיר את עצמו, ורק החכם הצליח להגיע אליו וכו' עיין שם, וכן רבינו סגר את עצמו, ורק יחידים זכו להגיע אליו לראש השנה. אבל לא כמו החכם הנ"ל בסיפור שהצליח לקחת התמונה של המלך להראות, כי אנחנו עוד ממשיכים בעולם בלי הפרצוף של רבינו, העולם עדיין שרוי בחשך גדול ודינים חזקים בתוקף. וזה כבודו של רבינו הקדוש שהוא נעלם, הוא מלך צדיק שאינו קשור לכל הרע והעושק, ואין לו מה לעשות לעזור, כי אין מרחמים אלא על מי שיש לו דעת, וברגע שהעולם יקבלו טיפת שכל שיש רבינו, אז בעזה"י הוא יעזור המון ויהפוך הכל לטובה.

הדבר היחיד שנותן שכל זה השיר נ נח נחמ נחמן מאומן. אז הדרך היחיד להלחם נגד השקר של הקורונה הוא להפיץ את השיר הקדוש הזה, ועל ידי זה כולם ישאלו שאלת החכם מה העדות והחוקים האלו - מה זה נ נח נחמ נחמן מאומן. 

ומה זה נ נח? שרבינו מסתיר את עצמו מאחורי היריעות, יריעה אחר יריעה, מסך אחר מסך, אסור ליחס שמו בשום קשר עם השקר שהולך בעולם עכשיו. יש לו דרך אחרת, דרך של חירות, דרך השם יתברך, ושמו מקולס ומשבח ומרומם לעילא ולעילא, אשרי הזוכה להיות נכלל בשמו ולמענו מביא גואל.

Remorse and desire to improve bring on intensified hostility

 

The wicked are full of remorses[1], and they don’t know at all what remorse is. Because this itself that they strengthen in the matter of their wickedness, this itself is remorse, since because regrets came to their minds, therefore they further intensify in their wickedness.[2] Like two people fighting one against the other, when one sees that his friend (-opponent) is strengthening/gaining against him, he then further strengthens against him (-the opponent). The same exact thing, when the bad see that some good begins to arouse by them, it (the bad) then intensifies further/phenomenally, and understand this.

 

And this is a great principle in the devotion of Hashem even for the rest of the people (-who aren’t wicked), everyone according to their status, that the more one desires to enter the devotion of Hashem, the more the baal-duvur (-litigator, evil inclination) strengthens against him, and this is already explained elsewhere[3]. And it is necessary to be on top of this matter, and to battle it strategically, to overcome the bad with great strengthening each time. Fortunate is he who merits to win the battle.

Many years ago I posted about the possibility of writing a book: The Nanach Guide to the Galaxies, unfortunately I couldn't find the post. 

In the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxies, travel is by the infinite improbability drive, by determining the finite improbability of the trip they are able to traverse there. That simple, other than the side effects....

In spiritual travel there is one simple factor and vector, fear of HY. Whatever level of awe a person can conjure and impose on himself will automatically determine the paradigm of his spiritual reality. This was considered to be a huge kabalistic secret, Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai cried upon revealing it to his close disciples, therefore I will not elaborate.
