The world is judged on Rosh Hashana, had Adam not sinned, there would have been a final consumamation of the rectification of the world on the first Rosh Hashana, but because of his sin, what should be achieved on Rosh Hashana alone, takes 21 days - until the holiday of Shimeeni Atzeres (Simchas Torah - the 8th day of Succos).
Rabbi Nachman passed away a few days before Shimeeni Atzeres, as if to indicate that he had no need for the extra days to finalize the achievement of Rosh Hashana, he had already successfully achieved everything necessary.
