Likutay Moharan - Volume 2 - Torah-teaching 6

Likutay Moharan 2:6
6 - Through Good Sweat, Through This Joy is Made

Through good sweat [ze’ah] (such as when one sweats through a matter in holiness), through this, joy is made, in the aspect of: "And you shall rejoice in your festival" (Deuteronomy 16:14) – the aspect of the joy of a festival day (and not necessarily an actual festival day, but every day that is the aspect of good is called a festival day). For joy is through the blood, for sadness is from the spleen, and the spleen is the turbidity of the blood. And when the turbidity of the blood of the spleen increases, Heaven forbid, through this weaknesses come, Heaven forbid. For when the turbidity of the blood is in measure in the spleen, then on the contrary it is good that the spleen receives the turbidity of the blood, for the blood remains pure. But when the turbidity of the blood of the spleen increases, Heaven forbid, weaknesses are made, Heaven forbid. And the remedy is sweat, for through sweat the poison that is in the turbid blood which cast him to bed, Heaven forbid, goes out. And then the blood remains pure, and then he merits joy. For the essence of sadness is through the spleen, which is the turbidity of the blood, as mentioned above. And now that the turbidity of the blood goes out through sweat, joy is made. Sweat [ze’ah] is an acronym [Zeh Ha-Yom ‘Asah]: "This is the day Hashem has made" (Psalms 118:24) – that is the aspect of the joy of a festival day that is made through good sweat, as mentioned above.

And this is what we see, that the sick person, immediately when he sweats, joy is drawn upon him, for through sweat, joy is made, as mentioned above.
