Letter 115

Baruch Hashem. The eve of Yom Kippur, [5]728 (Friday – Oct. 13, 1967).

In honor of the president of Israel, the delight of my eye and heart, who is glorified and praised in the mouth of all the Jewish people, Mr. Z. Shazar – who due to the magnitude of the greatness [and] refinement of his exceedingly lofty and uppermost soul, has merited to stroll in the Chamber of Wisdom and Science of the Gushing Spring that will never ever cease and shields over the Jewish people for all generations for eternity and shines upon us the light of the Daas [realization of knowledge or perspicacity] to know and recognize God. [May you have] a good and sweet year blessed with good, long, healthy and fresh life, true life.

With a rejoiceful heart and great gratifying satisfaction I received his heartful blessing together with the donation amounting to the sum of one-hundred Israeli Liras from the 28^th day of Elul, [5]728[1]. From the depth of my heart, I express to your exalted personage much thanks, blessings, and thunderous acclaim of charm over your great loving-kindness upon me. God should repay [for] your good act, and He should give you and your household life, peace, blessing, success, and healing of the soul and body. God knows my heart, that I am yearning, longing, and pining with expiration of the soul to write words of truth from the source of our life – the holy Rabbeinu and His holy students zatza”l [may the remembrance of Tzaddikim be for blessing]. But to my consternation, my strength has waned, and my heart and mind have become desolated from the mass suffering and pain I have from my illness – may you be spared – in particular now that it has overpowered upon me all the more so.

God should have mercy on you, and He should send His word and heal us speedily with the power and merit of the Gushing Spring, the Source of our life[2], the holy Rabbeinu Na Nach Nachma Nachman MayUman, and He should make you successful in everything. The merit of the charity shall stand at your right hand, and He should hurry to save you with all the salvations and successes.

בלב שמח ונחת רוח גדול קבלתי את ברכתו הלבבי, בצירוף תרומה על סך מאה לירות ישראליות מיום כ"ח אלול תשכ"ח מעומק לבי אביע למעלתך הרם רב תודות וברכות ותשואת חן על חסדך הגדול עלי. ישלם ה" פעלך הטוב ויתן לך ולביתך חיים ושלום וברכה והצלחה ורפואת הנפש והגוף, ה" יודע את לבי שאני משתוקק וכוסף ומגעגע בכלות הנפש לכתוב דברי אמת ממקור חיינו רבינו הקדוש ותלמידיו הקדושים זצ"ל אך לדאבוני תשש כוחי ושמם לבי ודעתי מרוב צער וכאב שיש לי ממחלתי לא עליך, בפרט עכשיו שגברה עלי ביותר.
