164. Regarding stories of the true tzadik's matters.

Regarding stories of the true tzadik's matters—for example: a sick doctor yielding to a great doctor. The doctor wants remedies he knows—tooth extraction, shaving—but the great knows precious remedies needed. Similarly, one approaches the generation's tzadik Torah scholar, soul-healer, wanting known conducts and ways. But truly, the tzadik has straight remedies and ways for healing. Sometimes, a drug—if given pure—kills the sick surely. Thus, mix it with others. So too, some cannot receive Torah interiority for healing; Torah is healing: “It shall be healing to your navel” [Proverbs 3], with dual powers—life or death drug, per our Rabbis [Yoma 72b]: merited, life drug; not, death drug. Saying Torah as-is kills, becoming death drug. Thus, clothe Torah interiority in other Torah words. Sometimes even that unreceivable, so clothe in external stories to receive hidden healing. Even Torah itself now clothed in tales, impossible to transmit as-is.
