187 - And to You Hashem is the Kindness for You Pay a Man According to His Deed

"And to You Hashem is the kindness, for You pay a man according to his deed" (Psalms 62:13) – this is a great kindness from Hashem blessed be He, paying measure for measure, enabling one to examine deeds, recognize sins, and return in repentance.

The primary application of measure-for-measure payment occurs in the Land of Israel, as written (Job 20:27): "The heavens reveal his iniquity, and the earth rises up against him." "Earth" signifies the Land of Israel, where iniquity is revealed through precise payment. Thus (Numbers 13:32): "A land that eats its inhabitants" – initials Atta Teshalem Leish Kemaasehu (-You pay a man according to his deed). Therefore, dwellers in the Land of Israel endure many sufferings, as payment is hastened there.
