Likutay Moharan II, Torah 30: When a New Book Comes to the World
When a new sefer [book] comes to the world, and this is explained by us, that there are chiddushim [new insights] that are made through demaos [tears] (see Torah 262), then these demaos of the chiddushim, from which the new sefer is made, stand against the decrees of the nations and nullify them. And the matter is explained, for all their strength is from the demaos of Esav (see Zohar, Shemos 12). And therefore, when there are these demaos mentioned above, they stand against them and nullify them. בְּכִיָּה [weeping], the acronym: בְּnei יִśrael כְּchol יָּm [Children of Israel like the sand of the sea] (Hosea 2:1). Just as the sand of the sea protects against the waves of the sea, that they do not flood the world (see Zohar, Pekudei 225; Rashi, Psalms 2), so too the Children of Israel protect against them with the bechiyah [weeping] and demaos. Against the decrees of the nations, as mentioned above, בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כְּחוֹל הַיָּם [Children of Israel like the sand of the sea], mispar [number], that is, from the sefer mentioned above, from there the Children of Israel are like the sand of the sea, that is, the bechiyah and demaos of the chiddushim in the sefer, which protect against them, as mentioned above.
