Likutay Moharan II, Torah 31: Through Melody a Person Is Recognized
Through neginah [melody], a person is recognized, whether he has accepted upon himself the yoke of Torah. And the sign is: “They shall be carried on the shoulder” (Numbers 7:9). And our Sages, of blessed memory, expounded (Arachin 11): “Yisau [carried] refers only to the language of shirah [song]”, as it is said: “Raise zimrah [song] and give the drum”. And this verse is said regarding the carrying of the sons of Kehas, who carried the Aron [Ark] on the shoulder, that is, the aspect of the yoke of Torah.
