127 - The Garments Are in the Secret of Chashmal, Which Is Guarding
The garments correspond to the mystical concept of chashmal (Ezekiel 1:27), which represents guarding and protection. Therefore, garments must always remain whole and untorn, for any tearing damages this guarding. The garments themselves demand accountability from the person if he is not careful to safeguard them—to honor them appropriately and to maintain them in cleanliness. [On the significance of guarding garments from stains, see above in Torah 29.]
