Tiberius is very quiet especially at night. About 4:30 in the morning on my way to the Mikvah I saw that a bus as boys had arrived at the holy tomb of the Ramchal, one of the boys even asked me where the mikva was, they had been tipped off. As I was taking my premikva shower I heard someone into the Mikvah and they stuck out my head from behind the shower curtain to laugh at him as I am wont to do especially in the Mikvah, the visiting boy, without mentioning names, was very preoccupied checking out the Mikvah and the sudden interruption of my laughing countenance gave him the shock of his life, and he made a sharp exclamation of something that did not sound even remotely close to NaNach! and ran for his life.

Afterwards I spent time with the boys. One of them asked me where I grew up, to which I replied that Nanach do not grow up, and I proceeded to tell him about Rabbainu's prohibition against being old, and the need to grow younger the older one gets as is explained in the awesome story of ancient times of the seven beggars, specifically the first one, the blind beggar. The boy asked me how in the world this can possibly be done, to get younger as one gets older. So I proceeded to explain to him that the longer one grows his beard the closer it reaches the ground (where infancy and childhood begins). The boy was doing his best to digest this but looked kind of incredulous. And there was some suspense in the air, and I added or something, and we all burst into laughter. BH.

BH there is definitely hope for these boys if they say Na Nach Nachma Nachman Meuman.

New movies of Rabbi Nachman's stories

HH as much as I was excited to see that people are working on bringing Rabbainu's stories to the cinema, I have come to have strong reservations. Besides for the fact that I have heard that Saba said not to make illustrations for the story, how can people who do not fully accept the word of Rabbainu be loyal to even to what should be obvious. Whether it be BRI (breslov research institute) who use Rabbainu as their private puppet to advance their own version of Dov Dov (-children's series) Judaism in financial and social comfort, or people even less affiliated with Rabbainu, like the guy who just put out the move who doesn't even care to go to Uman.
A very glaring and critical example is the characters presented in the kickstarter bid -- they are beardless. Anyone familiar with Rabbainu's teachings would know, that Rabbainu said that 500 years ago even the gentiles all had beards. So where is the veracity of presenting a film of Rabbainu's stories of ANCIENT TIMES with beardless characters?
Rabbainu said that even a tiny deviation from the exact details detracts tremendously from the story, so offering a illustrations and animations for them is a very risky venture -- but to openly not embrace the absolute finality of what is known and presented to us by Rabbi Nachman, is self defeating, misleading, and just another modern day scam.

Ramchal definitely had a beard! - הרמח"ל גידל זקן בהחלט!

Many people slander the Ramchal saying that he didn't have a beard. Apparently when he was around the age of Bar Mitzva he had cut his beard (See Igros Ramchal - Letters of Ramchal #39. Also see letter 46 from R' Yosef Irgess who discredits the Ramchal in this vein. ). However when the Ramachal was confronted with this (when he was about 24 years old, by someone who hadn't seen him since he was about 14 years old) he replied (Igros Ramchal #53):

ואשר לא השיבותי על ענין גידול הזקן - הנה פה אל פה, אם ירצה ה', אגיד כי באמת כבר מזמן גדלתיהו, ולכל זמן, עכ"ל.

That which I did not reply regarding the growth of a beard - behold mouth to mouth (personaly), if G-d wills, I will say that in truth for along time already I have grown it, and forever.

Also see letter 101, note 374, where the editor points out that a letter was doctored to read, "trim his beard" when the in truth it read "his mustache".

It is important also to take into consideration that the Ramchal wrote at great length -- probably hundreds of pages (besides for the works that we don't have because they were buried) -- all about the important role of the beard!

There's an article going around which claims that beards contain a lot of filth. Now a good Jewish beard is cleaned at least once a day before and after the daily dip in the mikva. Even still it is important to understand the root of the problem. The beard being the root of all of Heaven's bounty - livelihood and sustenance - as our Sages revealed that "bunay (children) chayay (life) umizonay (sustenance/livelihood) bimazal (in the beard, specifically the 8th and 13th sections of the beard) tuluy (are contingent)." Money, it is well known how filthy money is, both allegorically and in actuality, so it is no surprise that in money's root, from where it is channeled down, from the beard, there might be some filth found there. However the more we purify ourselves, our motives, and intentions, the more clean and holy our beards will be, and our money.
