The narrow bridge to eternity is Na Nach Nachma Nachman MayUman!

ב"ה

Blossoms of the Spring - Letter 19

Letter 19

B.H., Chay ("life" = 18th of) Taivais 719 (Monday, 29 December, 1958), Tiberius.

My soul and my heart who is attached and bound in the depth of my heart and mind with resolute and strong knot which will not come apart forever, Mr. Zalman Shazar, the good, who yearns, and longs for the absolute truth, Shalom and abundant salvation.

Fortunate is the man who binds himself to the true tzadik and doesn't go in the schemes of the wicked who distance (themselves and others) from him[1]. The main thing is the attachment to the tzadik upon whom stands the entire world and everything it contains, because he is the holy bridge by which one traverses in the midst of all the deluging waters and is saved from them all, and this is the aspect of the splitting of the Yam Suf that they went on dry land inside the sea.[2]

Every action and slight movement that a person surmounts to do in order to draw close to the tzadik is extremely precious in the eyes of Hashem Yisburach, and immediately he is triumphant abundant true and eternal triumph which will sustain forever.[3]

Every one, according to how much he recognizes in his soul, the enormity of his shortcomings, and his utter alienation that he has so much distanced from Hashem Yisburach, so too he needs specifically to draw close to the true Rebbe of the very, very greatest stature, because the smaller he is – he needs an overly greater true Rebbe.[4]

At times a person can fall Heaven forbid specifically through the truth, because he knows in his soul that he truly vitiated and marred a lot, and even now he is the way he is, hence the bal duvur (-litigator-evil inclination-Satan) lures him to knock him off completely Heaven forbid through his truth, and many left their world completely due to this truth. However, the true tzadik already revealed that the real truth (-the truth of the truth) is not so, because every person must strengthen himself in Hashem Yisburach always, and even in the nethermost hell Heaven forbid he should know and believe that he is still close to Hashem Yisburach and there is no despair in the world, and it is possible to return even from there and to truly draw close to Hashem Yisburach. Because certainly it is necessary to guard oneself from sin and even from the slightest infraction, but even still if one already fouled up, even if he fouled up the way he fouled up, even thousands and myriads of times Heaven forbid, even still at all times and every instant the kindnesses of Hashem are unabated and one can draw himself close to Hashem Yisburach at all times and from wherever he is because there is no reckoning of the His greatness blessed He, and through drawing close to the tzadik[5] everything can be turned around to the good and sins turned around to merits, and this is the essential real truth.[6]

I was forced to end because I am almost not lucid from the sheer misadventures and troubles which transpired over me, not upon you. He who remembers him well and mentions him always before Hashem Yisburach, and prays for his eternal wellbeing and success in this (world) and the next, and the wellbeing of his respectable and refined wife, and his kosher (-upright) and pure hearted sister, they should live for length of truly good days and years, and I call Shalom to all those in his company.

The transcriber – Yisroel Dov Odesser

All that a person tunnels and exerts to find a way to return to Hashem Yisburach, even though he is unsuccessful, there is no exertion which is lost, and the main thing is being close to the true tzadik and his disciples, and through this there is no vitiation and defect that cannot be rectified, just the main thing is not to ever go far from the tzadik Heaven forbid with all that transpires over him.[7]

Nanach is the narrow bridge one must take in this world

HH
Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman - the essential Rabbi Nachman. Saba Yisroel was the only Breslover in all of Tiberius, the whole city, men women and children mocked him and castigated him, yet he fortified himself with the holy teachings and methods of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov and managed to surmount their antagonism not only with resilience but with joy and exuberance. However when he saw that he had succumbed and ate on the fast of the 17th of Tamuz, he couldn't come to terms with how he had been let down to commit such a blunder, all of Judaism was reliant on him to bear the true tradition of Rabbainu and yet he can come to such a thing as not honoring completely the solemness of the fasting for the destruction of the temple? None of the teachings and techniques of Rabbi Nachman were able to restore his standing, he could find no solace no raison d'etre. All the teachings that had given him such formidable strength and resolve did nothing for him now, and were to no avail. It was only then that he was prepared from on high to receive the way of Rabbi Nachman which had never been divulged, not even to Rabbi Nussun, the way of dealing with those who had completely fallen from the faith Heaven forbid. Upon receiving the holy Petek, Saba Yisroel knew like never before that there absolutely was no despair in the world whatsoever, true he had heard and relied on those very words before, but previously he had known those words in the paradigm of Torah, and when a person falls Heaven forbid completely from the Torah then he will obviously be confronted with doubts in this dictum as well, but now he knew - even outside of the paradigm of Torah - he knew in the very paradigm of existence, in the paradigm of prayer, that there was no despair in the world whatsoever, and with this realization he was infused with supernal joy not of this world, and he was reset and prepared for the mission he was to accomplish initializing the entire world to the holy ways of Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman.
Today there are people that call themselves Breslov, who are really old, set in their ways may the Merciful One save us, they have everything figured out and packaged, they will pander to the masses their wisdoms and contrivances, but this is not Breslov, this is not truth. They have systems and balances, but none of that can withstand the rigors of today's turbulence. So they are just a facade of falsehood may the Merciful One save us. And likewise there are people on the other extreme who have rejected to some extent basic tenets of the Torah, and parade pridefully and staunchly claiming to be Nanach.
One must traverse in this world on a very narrow bridge... Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman!

Make {for} Yourself A Rabbi

HH
There is no group which propounds the concept of the tzaddik more than Breslov. Rabbainu revealed that everything but everything is completely contingent on the tzaddik. So it is amazing that in the third Torah of Likutay Moharan, Rabbainu brings the famous dictum from Ethics of Our Fathers which commands, "Make for yourself a rabbi." This dictum is often prominently presented as the absolute proof that it is incumbent to have a rabbi, something that should be very welcome to Breslov, who argue that very point, that everyone must take Rabbainu as their Rebbe, so it is amazing that Rabbainu explains this dictum in the exact opposite, saying that the mishna is saying that, "make yourself a rabbi!" I.e. build your own identity, character, and personality (Malchus). This is a beautiful opening into understanding the true role and concept of the rabbi-tzaddik. Society loves rabbis, because they are part and parcel of the corrupt devolvement of humanity. A community hires a rabbi, offering him a salary, power, and prestige, and in return they are absolved of so much unwanted responsibility, now the rabbi will answer forthem all the questions they don't want to answer, whether it is what job to take, or whether or not to undergo surgery, and so forth. So they feed each other to mutual detriment, the rabbi is a sicko living for artificial honor and money, to cultivate a community in a way that they will never mature properly, and never confront themselves.
The real tzaddik is just the opposite, although he is definitely providing amazing support, he is totally not trying to live and decide the lives of others, on the contrary, he will give them even more responsibility. This what we see here in Torah 3, that the true Tzaddik, doesn't pounce on this dictum to assert and promote his hold over the people, but pushes it on the people to force them to get a grip on their lives and build their own reign. [This is similar to the story Rabbainu told of the guy who dreamed of a treasure buried under a far away bridge, upon going there he found out that it was in his own closet. The tzaddik is the bridge, a person has to come to the tzaddik to find his own self].
The messiah that people are always talking about is societies idea of some super grand contemporary rabbi who will tell them exactly what to do, every single question they have in life, when to get up, how much to sleep, what job to take, who to marry, everything he will answer for them and they will have such a wonderful carefree life of post Messianic era.... Even if the real Messiah would make his grand entrance into the world today the majority of the people would have the messiah relegated to this task GF, so how can he come?! Basically they want to remain immature children without any personality or character. Rabbainu says cone to me and I will give you even more problems and responsibility, and I will show you how to be king. The king is in the field, hisbodidus and music and all the advice and teachings of Na Nach that empower a person to rule for himself over his kingdom. This is in itself redemption, the Messiah will just cement the way.
