Learning Talmud and Kabbala

When learning the Talmud one is equipped with the basic knowledge of the rules and the parameters involved, and yet when facing the sugya as it is presented in the Talmud, one is faced and confronted with staggering inadequacy, so many things don't add up and don't figure properly, the Chasam Sofer said that most "dechookim" (seemingly forced, constrained, passable but far from ideal) are true, but it's much more than that, they serve to project how the sugya is so much greater than our feeble conception and grasp. So much of learning of the Talmud is charting and delineating what we don't know.

Learning Kabbala is the opposite. No one really knows the supernal esoteric stark truth of the concepts being discussed. During the learning one gleans here and there some messages and reflections that resonate.

Diligence in Torah Study

Just now by the holy shrine of Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman I was praying to merit to study and learn a lot of Torah, and the gabbai of Tosh approaches me and wants to share with me a Torah he just learned from the writing of the Arizal (Prey Aitz Chaim on Purim), so as I heard him out I was thinking, wow, on the spot Rabbainu is hooking me up to already begin learning Torah. It gets better. The piece is about the letters Samech = 60 and Eyen = 70, which spell out the word SA - go, embark, travel. So I showed him what Rabbainu revealed in Likutay Moharan, Torah 188, that when a person screams to Hashem Yisburach they tell him SA! This fellow also feels that if more ice cream was served by the holy tomb there would be more screaming [regarding ice cream check out this informative video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlLScZAn5U8https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlLScZAn5U8] like there was in previous good years when people really felt their deprivation, but this year this almost no screaming, except for a little very near Rosh Hashana. Apparently everyone is already relying on the holy petek.

Amazing Targum Yonasun on this weeks haftora Parshas Aikev, end of Isaiah 50. He says that the prophet says that in the end of times HY will ask the nations whom among them was G-d fearing and listened to the prophets and trusted in G-d and His salvation? To which the nations will answer we had no time to study the Torah because we were to busy waging war on each other, and when one side won they burned down the houses, took the children captive, and pillaged the other... - and their entire days were consumed just in this, so it was impossible for them to learn the Torah.

Advice to attain diligence in Torah study - do not speak of the faults of any Jew

Someone asked Rabbainu, on the last erev (-the day preceding) Rosh Hashana of Rabbainu’s life (5571- September 28, 1810), in Uman, close to his demise (-October 16), advice for diligence (in Torah study). Rabbainu answered that he should not speak (bad) of anyone of Israel. Because each one of Israel has a letter in the Torah etc. and when one speaks (bad) of one, he draws himself away from the Torah due to his finding a defect Heaven forbid in a letter of the Torah which is the root of the soul of the one he spoke (bad) of, as is explained elsewhere (Sichos Huran – Words of Rabbi Nachman 91). The person asked Rabbainu, “And if one sees that the person is completely wicked?”Rabbainu o.b.m. scolded him, “How can you say of someone of Israel that he is completely wicked, behold there is certainly to be found in him a remnant bit of good or some good point in which he is not wicked. And he recalled then the matter of “and a bit more (/still remaining) and there is no wicked person,” which is explained in the Torah-lesson I will sing to my G-d with my utmost (/remnant), see there [Life of Our Leader Rabbi Nachman, article 34].

In parshas (portion of the Tora) Shemos (Exodus), Pharaoh says that all the boys born should be thrown in the Ya-or and all the girls born should be given life. The Zohar says that the boys are a reference to the Holy study of God and the girls are a reference to the talmudic method of study similar to that of yeshivos of today where they are busy extrapolating intricacies of laws and don't give so much attention to the Holy Blessed Creator. This the Zohar explains was the real servitude of Egypt. The tribe of Levi remained firm in their belief of God and refused to be slaves to the mental gymnastics and competition taking place by their brothers. The Leviites spent their time singing and praising God and clinging to Him.

The word Ya-or, a reference to the Nile, is spelled with an Aleph, it means, Lake. If you spell Ya-or with an Ayin (as the Ramchal does) it means, Woods. Together you get: Lakewood. This is a clear allusion to the sending of boys to Lakewood, so that they can find girls - to get married. And on a more meaningful level, the servitude to the Talmud instead of hooking up with holiness and Godliness. (thus it is termed the Nile and not Egypt, because the Nile is what feeds Egypt, just as those slaving to the Talmud are R"L feeding the klipos - there is in fact a town Egypt close to Lakewood!).

We must try to be free, free to be Godly. This is the holy way of Na Nach Nachmu Nachman MiUman!
