Modesty Police?

 HH

The Talmud is Sanhedrin 109b relates that although Oan ben Peles was originally together with Korach (Korach - Numbers 16:1), his wife saved him from continuing on that evil path. She got him drunk and lay him down inside, and she sat outside at the entrance to their house and let her hair out, anyone who came by, saw her hair out and retreated, she kept this up until they were swallowed up....

It is interesting to note that there were no modesty police or attacks or graffiti (-they didn't have Nanach back then), just everyone stayed away.

Cover up – dress modestly

HH

There are many good reasons why a person must dress modestly cover up their whole body, but today one of them really hit home, as I found myself in a dressing room with a very large flying cockroach, quiet disgusting, I seriously did not want that thing to touch me. Now imagine you were able to see all the demonic entities that surround us (this is actually even in the Talmud not just the Kabballa), and all these beings are parasitical, wishing to draw energy and power from us (if I recall correctly, in the movie the Matrix the people are actually imprisoned in their fantasies so that their energy can be harvested, there’s a lot of truth to that). The clothes form as a barrier which prevent and deny them access, and these things actually wear out the clothes. Previously on this blog (maybe just in Hebrew) I brought from Rabbi Moshe Dovid Walli, a senior Sage in the Study Hall of the Ramchal who authored a commentary to most of the Scriptures, and on the verse which says that during the rebuilding of Jerusalem and the Temple the people were told not to change out of their clothes at night, and RMDW explains that this was so that the evil realm would not be able to suck and draw nourishment from the briefly unprotected bodies. Clothes are the vessels for the highest levels of our souls and spirituality which are too lofty to be confined in our bodies and remain as makifim – periphery surrounding presence which guard us and protect us.

This is with regard to men, if a woman even needs to think at all about covering up then she is probably exempt from the Torah with the plea of insanity....

Nanach on the Torah Portion of Kee Seesuh - references to all the original teachings of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov and his disciples

HH

Kee Seesuh – פרשת כי תשא – When you receive the count

When you receive the head count of the Children of Israel each man shall give atonement for his soul etc..

The construct of the counting is in order to make boundaries for constriction, so that there should not be to much fervor, and so that one does not breech the bounds of his friend, because everyone has his own portion

30:34-38 – The kitoaress - incense

This is discussed in Likutay Moharan: 13:1, 24:2, 35:8, vol. 2: 16.

32:1 קוּם עֲשֵׂה לָנוּ אֱלֹהִים: Rise up and make for us a god.

The Praises of Rabbi Nachman 4-7

HH
Shivchay Huran
4-7
4. Also in his childhood he began to study with very tremendous diligence in his studies, and he would pay the teacher from his (own) pocket three large coins for every daf (-two sides of a page) of Talmud that he would learn with him, besides for the tuition of the tutelage that is father paid the teacher, he himself of blessed memory would give the teacher from his own (money) three large coins for every single daf, in order that the teacher would force himself to learn with him many dafim (pages) of Talmud every day. And so it was, that the teacher would learn with him many, many dafim every single day, and he would pay him as mentioned previously three large coins for every single daf besides for the tuition of tutelage.

5. ‎And so he entered into the devotion of Hashem, and all his devotion was with very extremely great secrecy/modesty, to the extent that absolutely no one new of him at all, because he was very concealed and hidden. And all his devotion was in concealment with great privacy. And his main devotion at first was with great simplicity without any smarts whatsoever, just with absolute simplicity, and every single thing that he did, everything was with great exertion and with great force and mesiras nefesh (self-sacrifice). And there is no matter of devotion which came to him easily, just every single thing came to him with very great exertion, that he would exert himself many times for every single matter of the devotion of Hashem. And he had many, many ups and downs, thousands and myriads beyond measure and reckoning.

And it was very extremely difficult and heavy upon him to begin to enter the devotion of Hashem to accept upon himself the yolk of His devotion blessed He. And he would frequently begin for a few days to engage in the devotion of Hashem, and afterwards would fall from it, and would return to begin, and would return and fall. And so it was many, many times until one time (t.n. there is a dream regarding this) he gained conviction that he would be very strong, that he would hold to devotion of a Hashem forever, and he would not look upon anything in the world. And from then on his heart was strengthened in Hashem, but even still even afterwards he constantly had very, very many ups and downs, just that afterwards he was strong that he would not let up His devotion blessed He forever, even though at times he will have a descent, even still he would strengthen himself in the devotion of Hashem Yisburach as much as he can.

6. And he used to begin each time anew, that is when he would sometimes fall from his level he would not despair of himself because of this, rather he would say that he would start anew as if he did not begin yet at all to enter His devotion blessed He, just now he is starting new. So it was every single time, always he used to begin anew, and he had many beginnings in one day, for even in one day sometimes he fell from his devotion and would begin anew, and so forth many times in one day.

7. And he studied with tremendous diligence and he learned a very great deal; "shas (Talmud)," and "poskim (halachic deciders)," and "Ta.Na.Ch. (Torah, Neveim-prophets, Kesuvim-scriptures)," and "Ain Yaakov (an anthology of the agada of the Talmud with commentaries)," and the books of the Zohar, and Tikunay Zohar, and all the "Kisvay (writings of) Hu-Ari (The lion, also acronym Rabbi Isaac (Luria)) o.b.m., and a vast amount of the other books, and "sifray (books of) mussar (ethics)," very abundantly.

And he said: that all the small books that speak of mussar (ethics), all of them where in his father's house. And he studied from all of them. He also learned a lot of "Raishis Chuchmuh (Beginning of Knowledge, a work of ethics authored by a disciple of the Ramak, based on Kabbalah)," and he said explicitly: that he learned the book Raishis Chuchmuh countless times (t.n. see the Words of Yisroel Dov Odesser where he tells over about R' Tzvi Hersch Rosenthal who was very keen on this work).

And the greatness of his vast proficiency in all the books as can be seen ostensibly somewhat, was without limit, and especially in the books of Ta.Na.Ch. and Ain Yaakov and all the Kisvay Hu-Ari and the books of the Zohar and Tikunim there is no one in the world to be found of his caliber. Because the whole Torah in its entirety was ready before him, fluent in his mouth, like a set table mamash, like something placed before the person before his eyes so that he could take for himself what he desires, similarly all the holy books were mamash set before the eyes of his holy intellect whenever he desired. And a bit of this can be seen and discerned in his holy books.

The direction of the nauseating media

HH

In the first Torah-lesson ‫of Likutay Moharan, Rabbainu reveals how the evil inclination first presents itself as a mitzvah, ‫ and even when not presenting itself as an actual mitzvah, very often the lines are blurred and it is difficult to distinguish between good and bad, and certainly there is plenty of room for a ‫person to justify doing many things he should not. But as the bad develops and begins to show its true colors decision making becomes much easier, just that the temptation is already set in and much harder to break. However as the bad develops still further it becomes really ugly and loses all appeal and allure, and unless a person is already completely addicted Heaven forbid, it will be abhorrent and he will be nauseated by it.

Such is what we are seeing in the media today, and with the movies and television.  Originally there was some appeal to it all, and there was definitely room for a person to allow himself some entertainment by it. Today already it is becoming increasingly nauseating, as the producers introduce more and more of their vile vices and views, and it's just disgusting and sickening to watch. What will probably happen is a very strong bipolar radicalization where there will be an increasing development of extremely kosher shows verses the tasteless faithless repugnant ones.

To See The Blossoms of the Spring

HH

To See The Blossoms of the Spring

--- This is a new book just published, written by Michael Barzel a devout haredi Nanach who merited to service and spend time with Saba Yisroel --

Chapter 1

R' Yisroel was born on the 20th of Kislev 657 (November 25, 1896) and was brought into the covenant of our Forefather Abraham (i.e. he was circumcised) on the third candle (-day), the same day that the waters of the Flood desisted, and he departed aloft with good old age on the 18th of Cheshvon 755 (Sun, October 23, 1994) the day adjacent to the first day of the Flood started.

He was named 'Yisroel Ber' after a butcher from his family who was a very great tzaddik, his grandfather was the Chief Judge of the Beit Din (Jewish Court) of Odessa for 40 years, and he was a close follower of the Rav the Tzaddik the Kalisker, and he went up and immigrated to the Land of Israel.

His ways were hidden and almost nothing is known about him (this is what can be discerned from his words), and even his family and acquaintances didn't know from him, as this was hinted to once when President Shazar addressed Saba Yisroel's children on the wedding day of his son Pinchas, and said to them, “You don't know who your father is!” The children were angered by this, and even still Shazar repeated and said, “You don't know who your father is!”

The way of R' Yisroel was to allude to lofty conceptions and important matters from his conversation, and everyone understood according to the depth they fathomed in their hearts.

Also I remember that R' Yisroel's oldest daughter, OB”M, told over about him, and fired up the listeners with her words and endearing stories about him, and when they told him this, he said, “What does she know?” From this you should understand that he was very hidden, a concealed tzaddik, and the world was very mistaken about him, especially in his old age, to think that he had alread aged... Heaven forbid, or there are those that say that they knew him for 40 years, and so forth, but the truth is, it is impossible to know from him, and he hid himself completely from the world.

On the contrary, from this you can understand a little from his greatness, that he was not concerned at all about what people thought of him. On the contrary, he would purposely disgrace himself, and in truth [not like the famous rabbis who would disgrace themselves in order that everyone would declare of them, “see how humble he is...” for such humility is the epitome of haughtiness (see Likutay Moharan 11)] – as is brought down a story of R' Zusha, that once on his way he came across an orphan bride who lost her entire dowry and the groom's side wanted to call off the wedding, and when R' Zusha heard of this he announced that he found the money, and he said the amount that the bride had lost (- and this was really his own money), but he requested a percentage as a finder's fee, so everyone denigrated him very much, and they threw him out of the city with great disgrace, and all this was in order to do the mitzva for it's own sake.

Also see Likutay Moharan 261 that the tzaddikim accept upon themselves disparagement and spilling of blood (-blushing) purposely, in order to save Jews from being killed and other tragedy that was destined G”F to befall them.

So also transpired with R' Yisroel once, at the end of his life, chasidim came to see him and to hear words and encouragement from his holy mouth, and he was asking for food and chastising the master of the house saying that he has dishes but does not give him to eat, and he was shouting, and everyone was astonished, and in the morning R' Yisroel asked one of the friends to ask forgiveness from the to master of the house (and this is what he said to him:) “He needs to rejoice that he merited to host in his house the followers of Rabbainu, I need not have been so particular with him about the food, and in truth there was food, but this is the calamity of being old, yes I am old... sometimes a evil spirit enters me... but tell the master of the house that this was of great benefit to him, this was very favorable for him, for the whole world and for me as well... I am careful not to pain any Jew, but great misfortune was destined to befall the house, and by the pain that I caused, the misfortune won't come...” [from here one sees how R' Yisroel would disgrace himself in everyone's eyes in order not to receive honor, and also to mitigate the hardships from Jews].
