B.H., 11 Nissan 719 (Sunday, April 19, 1959)
My love as my very heart, Mr. Zalman Shazar, Shalom and long, true
life.
Today I received his letter with the attached check in the amount
of 100 Israeli lira, and it was nachas (-gratifying) and joyous for me because
I saw in this the utter magnitude of his yearning and burning heart for the
point (-core) of the truth. May Hashem pay him for his good dealing and give
him success to draw upon himself the light of the tzadik who made awesome
revelations to illuminate for us His Divinity blessed He everywhere one is, and
he should apply his heart and his eyes very well to always contemplate his
(-Rabbi Nachman's) Torah (-holy teachings), and his discourses, and the stories
he related, until he merits to find the daughter of the king who went lost[1], i.e.
the holy true faith which fell into great exile, and he should spend the days of
his life in true good, desiring, yearning, and longing for Hashem Yisburach,
and it should be pleasing for him the joy of the holy holiday[2] that
we merited to be part of Israel the chosen nation for whose sake Hashem made
all these miracles that He took us out of Egypt and tore the sea (open) for us
etc., it was then that His Divinity and His Dominion was revealed in a wondrous
and awesome revelation to the extent that maidservant saw (-prophesized) on the
sea etc.. And we should merit to be prudently guarded from a morsel of chumetz
(-leaven which is forbidden on Pesach) physically and spiritually, and to feel
the pleasantness of the holiness of the Seder of Pesach.
As the diligent entreaty of a friend bonded more than a brother[3], who
loves him with true love which isn't contingent on any temporal matter[4], solicits
his wellbeing, and his success, and the wellbeing of his household, and to all
those in his company, Shalom and life without limit.

אהובי כלבבי, מר זלמן שזר, שלום וחיים ארוכים אמיתיים.
היום הגיעני מכתבו בצרוף צי'ק על סך 100 ל"י, והיה לי לנחת ושמחה שראיתי בזה עוצם תשוקתו ותבערת ליבו אל נקודת האמת. ישלם ה' פעלו הטוב ויצליחו להמשיך על עצמו אור הצדיק שגילה נוראות להאיר לנו אלקותו יתברך בכל מקום שהוא, ולשים ליבו ועיניו היטב היטב לחשוב תמיד תורתו ושיחותיו ומעשיות שסיפר, עד שיזכה למצוא הבת מלך שנאבדה, היינו האמונה הקדושה האמיתית שנפלה בגלות גדול, ויבלה ימי חייו בטוב אמיתי רצונות כיסופים וגעגועים לה' יתברך, ויערב לו שמחת החג הקדוש שזכינו להיות בכלל ישראל עם הנבחר אשר בשבילנו עשה ה' את כל הניסים האלה שהוציאנו ממצרים וקרע לנו את הים וכו', אשר אז נתגלה אלוקותו וממשלתו בהתגלות נפלא ונורא עד אשר ראתה שפחה על הים וכו'. ונזכה להזהר ממשהו חמץ בגשמי ורוחני ולהרגיש נעימת קדושת הסדר של פסח.
כעתירת אוהב דבק מאח, אוהבו אהבה אמיתית שאינה תלויה בשום דבר בטל, דורש שלומו והצלחתו ושלום ביתו, ולכל הנלווים אליו שלום וחיים עד אין קץ.
