Healing by the Torah

HH
Question:
Rabbainu merited to hear the callings of Mt. Sinai of the giving of the Torah, so how wasn't he healed even physically immediately - we know that all those present by the giving of the Torah were healed and completely sound in body, mind, and soul.
This has to do with another problem, Rabbainu said that when Israel has the greatest tzadik like Moshe, that tzadik can bring prophecy even into the lowest of Israel, as was evidence by the splitting of the sea, that even the maidservant had prophecy. So how come Rabbainu didn't bring prophecy to his votaries?

Answer:
All of Israel have to be present and connected to the tzadik. As long as the tzadik is operating solo, or with just a few adherents, the effect can not be brought into this world, it remains only a personal spiritual height of the tzadik.

That is what I wrote B"H 8/20/17, today 3/4/2018 I am happy to add that Rabbainu himself said something similar, in Sichos Huran - The Words of Rabbi Nachman, article 157, Rabbainu said that according to the abundance of Torah he already said regarding the lungs he should have been healed, just due to the lack of faith of the listeners, who aren't strong in their faith, he wasn't healed.

Nanach on the Torah Portion of Yisro - references to all the original teachings of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov and his disciples

HH

Torah Portion of Yisro – פרשת יתרו – Yisro

On this day they came to the Sinai Desert.

Everyday there is the Torah is received a new, one must strengthen with new will every day

Likutay Halachos, Laws of the Blessings of the Morning 5:63

And they came to the Sinai Desert and they camped in the desert.

The reason why the Torah was given specifically in the desert

Likutay Halachos, Laws of Collecting Debt from Orphans 3:8

And Israel camped there opposite the mountain.

Unity is necessary because in order to attain conception of the Divine many vessels are needed, and every person is a vessel unlike any other

If one looks at the bad in another and doesn't search for his good, there aren't vessels to contain the light

Likutay Halachos, Laws of Damages 4:11

And the entire nation responded in unison and they said, “everything which Hashem said we will do,” and Moshe relayed the words of the nation to Hashem. 9: And Hashem said to Moshe, “Behold I am coming to you in the thickness of the cloud, in order that the nation will hear when I speak with you, and also in you etc.,” and Moshe said the words of the nation to Hashem.

The main test of bechira (free choice) especially by the tzadik is in the correct decision making

Likutay Moharan, Torah-lesson 190

Be prepared for three days (from now).

The preparation for Matan (the giving of the) Torah was to constrict the great light, which is the essential task of man in the lower world, to constrict the light of Ain Sof (the No Limit – the Infinite One B”H) through the Torah and receive it cumulatively

Likutay Halachos, Laws of the Prayer of Mincha (afternoon) 7:35

And all of Mount Sinai was smoking.

The fire and sounding of the shofar was in order to burn the klipos (husks – external forces) of evil by means of the fire of mishpat (justice/judgment)

Likutay Halachos, Laws of Converts 3

Lest they break through.

The warning “lest they break through” is because too much light is destruction

Likutay Halachos, Laws of Nedarim (vows) 3

______________

Even though they might be truthful it is necessary to know that there is an enormous difference between them and the true tzaddik

Likutay Halachos, Laws of Interest 3

_______________

It is necessary to be proficient in returning (down from a high) not to break the boundaries

Likutay Halachos, Laws of Blessings on Fruit 5:20

_______________

Not to break through and enter the border of a friend, not on the way up/in nor on the way out

Likutay Halachos, Laws of Shabbos 7:74

And you shall ascend, you and Aaron.

It is impossible to enter the company/arena of the tzadik and understand his ways

Likutay Halachos, Laws of Interest 5:38

Remember the day of Shabbos to sanctify it.

The main holiness of Israel is the holiness of Shabbos

All the ways to happiness are very radiant on Shabbos

Likutay Halachos, Laws of Boundaries 6

Six days you shall work and you shall do all you work.

Specifically through the six days of work there is Shabbos, specifically through the existence of falsehood which needs to be culled to glean the truth from the falsehood

Likutay Halachos, Laws of Hiring Workers 5:1

Likutay Halachos, Laws of Oaths 2:7

And the seventh day is Shabbos etc..

Explanation of how Shabbos in the aspect of Malchus (Kingdom – usually the lowest attribute) is higher than the weekdays

Likutay Halachos, Laws of Circumcision 4:13

And the seventh day is Shabbos of Hashem your G-d.

Shabbos is unrestrained from the evil realm

Likutay Moharan, Torah-lesson 139

And the seventh day is Shabbos of Hashem your G-d do not do any work etc..

The prohibition against work on Shabbos is because on Shabbos there is no culling of holy sparks

Likutay Halachos, Laws of a Synagogue 5:32

Honor your father and your mother so that  you lengthen your days.

Even though it would have been better not coming into the world it is very well worth it even for the most slightest achievement of the lowest of the low

Likutay Halachos, Laws of Oaths 2:8

And in order that His fear (/awe) should be upon your faces so that you don't sin.

At the very least raise the fallen fear to the fear of G-d and raise your fear of G-d to awe of his lofty grandeur

Likutay Halachos, Laws of a Kosher Animal 4:5

______________

One must be abashed before HY, even still one must not be deterred by shame from asking forgiveness after sinning however severely

Likutay Halachos, Laws of Loans 3:4

___________

Abashment before Hashem to the extent that one's face turns colors

Sichos (Words of) Rabbi Nachman 168

And the nation stood at a distance and Moshe approached the thick cloud etc..

There is a thick cloud which prevents a person from drawing close to HY, however it is necessary to enter there because also there Hashem is found

Likutay Moharan, Torah-lesson 115

Wherever I (permit) mention (of) My Name, I will come to you and bless you.

When one remembers and believes that Hashem Yisburach is found in every place and everything, then one is blessed and protected from all evil

The way to receive the Torah as delineated by Rabbainu NNNNM in Likutay Moharan

HH

In Likutay Moharan, Torah-lesson 7, Rabbainu brings an excerpt from the Talmud and explains it in the following way.

Rabba bar bar Chana said, a Yishmaelite merchant <this is the aspect of prayer and emuna-faith, which is the ultimate redemption from exile) said to me, "Come, I will show you Mount Sinai <this is the aspect of the 613 commandments, which are true advice and true seed. Emuna-faith can only be established with these truths>." {So now RbbC is on his way to get the Torah!} I went, and I saw that it was teeming with scorpions <these are the advice of the wicked, those who are not true tzadikim and yet give their advice and counsel which is likened to the advice of the primeval snake who advised Eve to eat from the forbidden fruit, which is adulterous seed. So RbbC saw that Mount Sinai - the Torah had all about it these characters promulgating their falsehood!> and they were standing like white donkeys/clay <this is a reference to the white strings of tzitzis which are likened to a clay seal, which are protection from promiscuity - the adulterous seed of the charlatans - the advisers of the snake. By virtue of the tzitzis one can remain faithful to receive only the true Torah and seed from the true tzadik>. And I heard a bas-kol (a Heavenly declaration) which said, "Woe onto Me for I made an oath, and now that I swore, whom will revoke it?!" <this is the instigation of removing the bonds of exile. When one guards himself from receiving the evil advice and guidance, and only learns the Torah from the true tzadik, he can achieve true Emuna-faith and prayer, which is real redemption, and real knowledge of the Hashem and the Torah>.

Judging Favorably

HH

Many people might think that the construct of always judging others favorably was introduced by Rabbi Nachman of Breslov (-in the famous teaching of Likutay Moharan 282). The truth is that according to Maimonides it is one of the 613 commandments of the Torah, and even those who argued that it isn't, didn't necessarily dispute it's origins explicit in the Torah, rather they felt that it didn't meet the criteria to be counted in the 613 (-the Torah has a great deal more than  613 commandments, and very complex treatises have been authored to prove which commandments are included in the 613, most notably, Sefer Hamitzvos of Maimonides, with Nachmanides rebuttal and convictions), and at the very least everyone agrees that it is a rabbinical injunction. Rabbi Nachman simply made this commandment feasible, he revealed its nature and character, its importance, power, and role, and incorporated it into his complete system of life of devotion to HY, praying for everything especially for each holy teaching.

This is what was said in Breslov, Moshe Rabbainu (Moses) received the entire Torah at Sinai and gave it to Israel, but keeping and living the entire Torah, that is through Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman!

The Torah was not given – except to those that ate the manna

ב"ה
The Torah was not given – except to those that ate the manna

Many years ago I read a book by a nuclear physicist (if I remember correctly I think his name was Cyril Domb, he was a ba'al teshuva who died young R"L) and in one chapter he propounded an idea that kedusha which transcends this world, should be realized as traveling faster than the speed of light, for as object approach the speed of light they get larger and larger, so he figured that if they can beat the speed of light, they can transcend the space of matter, and this is the concept of the Holy Ark in the Holy of Holies that did not take up any space (See Rabbi Nachman's stories of Ancient Times, of the Seven Beggars, the 5th day, the Hunchback Beggar, there Rabbainu revealed that to get to the tree which stands out of space, one needs to acquire it's attributes, the body (trunk) of the tree is truth (this is in fact light, as the verse says, שלח אורך ואמיתך), and its roots are humility, fear of Heaven, and faith).
[This works nicely with an analogy my friend (S.R) always gives to explain why tzaddikim have extra critical judgement by HY, as it says So he says it's like a car, as long as the car is just inching along one can turn the steering wheel, and even jerk it which ever way he wants, but when a car is going 200 miles an hour, a little touch on the wheel can send it flying. Kedusha is like faster than the speed of light, so any nuance there makes a world of difference.]

So I was thinking along these lines, to explain why to really receive the Torah one has to get his nourishment only from the manna. Because any food that leaves waste in the body, if the body is on the level of holiness of the Torah, it is like going super fast, and even the smallest iota of waste would be utterly huge to infinity.

Almost 7 years later I wrote more about this in Hebrew: NaNach: לא ניתנה תורה אלא לאוכלי המן (naanaach.blogspot.com)

The Secret to Understanding the Torah

HH

In the holy book Yosher Divrey Emess (Straight Words of Truth) he writes that everything he received from the Maggid of Mezretch (the main disciple and successor to the Baal Shem Tov) he already had known, for he was a huge scholar in his own right, the only difference was that what he hear from the Maggid he received with conviction as if he heard it from the Tanaaim (Sages of the Mishna). From this we learn that the real key to understanding the Torah is the importance that one attributes to it. How much one is “mispaael” (roused, worked up, inspired, blown away....) from the Torah.

The Vilna Goan points out that the holy books begin by stating who their author is. This is intrinsic to understanding the content, because knowing who is speaking is the key. When a ten year old gives a business tip it doesn't carry any weight, but when it comes from someone renown, the same tip becomes a strong principle.

There are different versions to the story, but the basic gist of it with regard to the above, that one of the great scholars went to test out the Baal Shem Tov, and the Besh”t gave him to read and explain a passage from the Eitz Chaim (work of the Arizal), the scholar did so, but the Besh”t said that it was not satisfactory, the scholar applied himself again unsuccessfully, and yet again. Finally the scholar told the Besh”t that's the best I can do, if I am not correct please show the proper interpretation. The Baal Shem Tov took the holy book and told the scholar, “Stand on your feet!” The Baal Shem Tov began reading the passage aloud, this particular passage mentioned the names of various angels, and as the Besh”t read their names the angels appeared.... The Baal Shem Tov then told the scholar, your explanation and understanding was correct but it was utterly deficient.

On the first word of the Torah, “Beraishis” Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai revealed 70 different interpretations and expositions which are said to have an entirely different meaning every hour, each interpretation encompassing intelligence which can explain the entire working of the known universe and supernal worlds. We look at this word and see so little, but when Rabbi Shimon considered this word it was the Tikunay Zohar.

If you want to begin to understand the Torah, you have to take the time to contemplate and actually feel the enormity of the awesome power it is packing. When the Jews stood by Mt. Sinai and heard G-d speaking to them their souls flew away, and they jumped a mile away, angels had to bring them back, and G-d provided special dew to resurrect and restore their souls. This is really what a person has to be prepared to take when preparing to learn the holy Torah.

By the Baal Shem Tov the holy disciples would hear the thunder and lightning that was by the giving of the Torah! Rabbi Nachman questioned those about him, if they too heard these callings.

Honesty and humility

HH Rabbi Nachman revealed that there are two things: truth and humility. There are many levels and depths of truth they are the values that G-d signs in creation. Their place and existence is in humility. No one can see G-d because in His infinite humility He will never show Himself, He will just show His Attributes. When a person completely abnegates himself, he slips under the veil and all of G-d's attributes radiate now from him, and thus he knows G-d firsthand. This is the way the Jews received the Torah on Purim This is why Moshes name is not mentioned in this weeks portion because he told G-d that he needed to see the Jewish people as his Torah and erase himself as not (32:32 if not ersae me now.... Read from left to right it spells I am Nachman and the acronym spells out from Uman!). Na Nach Nachma Nachman Me'Uman!
