The Foolish Acquisition of Knowledge without Heart

Knowledge without Heart

Science is known to be cold and calculating. Science measures time, space, and all that those contain, it even measures the soul, levels of emotion and so forth. What science doesn’t know how to measure is the heart, good and evil. Science in fact tries to ignore this dimension. Science for example, regulates urine and stool examples with extreme professionalism, in a septic environment and system, a brazen face against the real nature of these items that are the waste and excrement that the body rejected which stink and are repulsive. Doctors are considered above the temptations of the flesh as they practice their profession, professionalism is considered somehow to be immune to the dimensions of good and bad, the desires of the heart.

Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan in his most monumental work, his translation and comments on Sefer Yetzira – Book of Creation, writes an amazing chidush (novelty) which he came up with. One dimension (a line) has 2 directions, two dimensions (a plane), adds another factor of two, how far to extend the lines width, making it two to the power of two. Three dimensions, adds breadth, another factor of two, making it two to power of three . These three dimensions are that of space, making space measurable by a factor of 8. Following this, when the dimension of time is added, there will be another factor of two, making it two to the power of four, 16. When the dimension of good and evil is added, there will be another factor of two, making it 32 directions, 32 is Hebrew is LEV – heart!

With this we can gain deeper appreciation for what it says in Proverbs (17:16), “For what is the payment of the fool in his hand, to acquire knowledge but with no heart?” For the book of Proverbs especially belittles the superficial wisdom of science and philosophy. All the money in the world, all the quantification and research, if it is without heart, it is for nothing.

The Torah says that the world was created for man, all of creation, inanimate and all life forms are supposed to be at his disposal. Man is therefore responsible for the wellbeing and welfare of all creation, as its master. However when man sees himself responsible for creation as its servant, this is the exact opposite of the purpose of creation, and it brings absolute mayhem into the world. Because the world was designed to have man as its master, and if man chases after its tail, then this GF throws the whole sequence and order of the world upside down GF.

[The same holds true regarding climate change, the world was created for man, and man must build and beautify it and not destroy it, but at the same time he must not fall subservient to the conduct of nature. The world was created to host man and all his needs, and man need not and should not view himself as an intruder or a slave who must try to help the environment.]

In today’s society people in the city must clean up after their dogs, and so thousands of people without being fazed at all, without any compunction tend to their dogs manure, picking it up with their hands, very scientifically septic with a plastic bag and all, and carry it with them until they can dispose of it properly. This is done purely scientifically not considering for a moment what is really going on. The peoples need for the animal’s love and acceptance is so great to them that they have become subservient to the extent that they stoop to pick up its manure, relying heavily on their scientific knowledge that there is nothing inherently different in manure than anything in the world, it is just a bunch of chemical components thrown together that forms this mass, which might or might not smell, regardless. But because scientifically it is known to be a terrible affront to many people, and it can contain harmful bacteria and so forth, they must remove it, and so they do without any misgiving.

According to science, a male or female is just so many qualities and properties, and all of those can be manipulated as one sees fit, and viola, it is completely arbitrary. Because there is no heart. Sure they will provide the measurements of the emotions of the person, but the heart, the real heart, they can’t touch that whatsoever. On the contrary, they use all the external emotions and physical properties to project and make claims to dictate what the heart is, it is male or female, because this person has such and such emotions and so forth. They make the heart the servant of the external emotions and properties, when it is the exact opposite, the heart is the king of the body, and all the emotions and properties must subject themselves to the heart. So in their empty arrogant ignorance, they claim that they know the heart!

Then these great scholars and scientists weigh their grand opinions on society how to run the country, policy making and so forth. They have everything figured out according to their great knowledge and faith in science, and they confidently and emphatically apply their adept knowledge with great certitude, not being able to fathom at all how anyone can doubt let alone staunchly disagree with their conclusions.

Development and getting closer to the truth even as we sink deeper

There are already a few posts on the blog about science and magic. In Egypt everything was magic, today everything is technology, and the true reality is faith, as the verse says (Psalms 33:4), "and all His deeds/creations are with faith," magic and technology are what the Talmud dismisses as "chaizoo diheye almuh" - facades of this world, wrappings. When the world is more spiritual then the wrappings will also be more spiritual, and that obviously has a strong plus in that faith is in air, and not only does that make it easier to connect, and make a very strong connection to holiness, it also has everyone believing to some extent. Even still there is a great advantage to the sorrowful state of physicality we have sunk to today. The Sages revealed that demons (-the workings of magic) have no power over creatures smaller than a hairbreadth (Rashi on Exodus 8:14), and today most of technology and science works with tiny particles much much smaller. This (I posit) leaves the material free of the influences of the occult, laying it bare for what it is, and that is a huge opportunity affording it to be a pure platform for the true reality. Sure the scientists will undoubtedly continue to misconstrue the import of what they are researching, but even still the matter will remain pristine and unsullied for everyone to still see it for what it truly is. [See however the posts about artificial intelligence, which explain how it is basically just a platform for the imprisoned embedded souls. Even still souls are from an inner paradigm of truth as opposed to demons and the occult which are all external trappings]. This is congruous with what tzadikim said that today even though the souls are so sunken they are more truthful.

Technology and magic

Today most people have great faith and pride in science, but the truth is that all of science is considered a maidservant to true knowledge, - cheetzonee - outer, external, superficial. Science is just an evolution of magic. The science of the occult at least dealt with spiritual forces, and now it has evolved to the very physical. But it remains just the study of measuring and channeling, not of actual conception. Knowledge of all the scientific facts will not enhance a persons life in the slightest. It is meaningless and provides no answers, just statistics. The Zohar says that Moses couldn't even be bothered to give any attention to such knowledge, and consequently King Solomon had greater knowledge in such fields. And all that knowledge didn't save him from going off the deep end, R"L. Rabbi Nussun warned strongly against studying these external wisdoms, and composed very strong prayers of condemnation against them and those that study and teach them.

May Hashem Yisburach protect us from these impurities.

A little about science

This is something that I found myself writing on a thread on facebook, it is really a very lengthy matter which I have addressed somewhat in my Hebrew Likutay Nanach, but since I've written this now in English, I will share it here:

HH the Torah says that Solomon was the wisest of all men even more than Moses, and the holy books are asking how that can be possible, and the Zohar explains that Solomon had wisdom of the working of the lower worlds of which Moses had absolutely no interest. Once a person merits to know of the workings of the inner worlds with their supreme power he will not care to waste an iota of time or energy in the weak infinitesimal lower systems. (In ancient Egypt they had magic doing all types of things that today is done by technology, and in contradistinction Adam originally had angels doting on him and his every pleasure and luxury.) And all this pertains to real wisdom, however the empirical happenings of this world the Zohar very greatly derides, and the Ramchal elaborates as well that the Sages of the Talmud don't even give any attention or mention to it at all, it is a very shallow shell which wraps up the true working of what is really going on. It is like measuring and analyzing ripples in a pool of water without taking into account the stone which was thrown into the water and set them off. And so the scientists are busy measuring and quantifying the superficial values, and completely missing the true workings - and that's besides for the fact that because their focus is so completely misplaced the chances of their having true faith and integrity is very slim, may the holy Merciful One have mercy on us in merit of the holy Petek of Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman!

Daas - holy realization of knowledge

HH Blessed is HY Who gave us His holy Torah and inscribed our names and sealed them in the Holy Torah where room is given for existence of diverse mindsets in the absolute Unity of G-d. The Unity is always there; was, is, and will be, and in the cycle of time this will become more and more apparent until it becomes blatant, and eventually a powerful consuming certainty. In today's modern word even religious people often put more faith in science than they do in their religion. And as science progresses producing all types of wonderful technology, more and more people are becoming disillusioned, the new technology hasn't brought real change to anything in their life, they waited and longed for the new computer, phone, robot, and now that they have it they are left with the same emptiness. And maybe this is a big factor in the appeal of islam, which advocates throwing away ones mind and just accepting One G-d. Seeing the uselessness of technology in providing meaning, they despair completely of their acumen, and just fall into mindless subservience. Abraham already referred to it as similar to a donkey, which is not altogether derogatory, for in fact Our Sages praised the righteous who set themselves like domesticate animals in their devotion of HY (Chulin daf 5). The true reality however is that the greatest wisdom and science is the fear of HY, and King Solomon the wisest of all men, and Our Sages in the Talmud already proclaimed that fear of G-d is one with wisdom – it is the very same concept, two sides of one coin, the coin being daas – the holy realization of knowledge – knowledge not just factual or logical – but knowledge which is a person's reality – the way he perceives and relates to everything in his life. Daas is a marriage (which by definition can only be holy) and union of holy knowledge and fear of Heaven – one compliments the other and strengthens the other. A person's knowledge is completely contingent on the paradigm of his reality, if he is stuck in modern science he will never be able to find the knowledge of G-d, which is the true life source and mechanism of everything in the universe, even still the Divine is always hidden everywhere, and even the scientist will have ample opportunities to realize from the very pit of science that there must be a Divine source for everything. The more the person gains awareness of the magnitude of the reality of the One G-d the more he will enter a paradigm where the wisdom is real and meaningful – not just technical relating to molecules and cells, but relating to life, and real life is Divine. And the more real wisdom one gains, the greater his awe of G-d will become – together these two factors create his daas.

The reason why we don't automatically have amazing daas, is because HY created the world with a constriction which blocks out daas, and a person has to break through to merit to the daas. Above the constriction of this blockage is a true reality of daas, it is a paradigm where all existence – aspect of Chuchma - is reflected in the souls of the tzaddikim – the aspect of Bina. Thus the daas we must gain in the world is by drawing close to the true tzaddikim who are the providers and the very paradigm of daas. So first we must dispose of our mindsets which are regulated and enslaved to the constricted reality which is bereft of daas, and then we must gain true daas as it is prescribed and emanated from the true tzaddikim.

Technology Catching Up To Rabbi Nachman

In Rabbi Nachman's Legendary Tales, in the second story of A King and an Emperor, Rabbi Nachman related that the Emperor's daughter had a burning lens which she used like a laser gun to shoot at the prince who is climbing the mast of a neighboring ship and burn his brain. It has come to my attention that there is a TV show, slightly sci-fi which enacted such a gun, where a group of tech savy geniuses put together solar panels to shoot out a ray of heat to burn and blast a tire of a speeding car. Scorpion, season 2 episode 14.
Rabbainu said that in the time of the Messiah people will have their own personal flying machines in which they can readily hop over to visit someone, we have yet to see this, but it seems in the making.

The curse of external knowledge of the gentiles

Rabbi Nussun, the prime disciple of Rabbi Nachman, was the master of seeing only good in people. He received from Rabbainu the teaching and life practice that even in the most evil Jew there is some good point, however small, which one should search out, latch on to, and only see this person through the vantage of this goodness. Rabbi Nussun said that he can explain elaborately any area of the entire Torah, but to explain even the most insignificant Jew he was unable.

This very Rabbi Nussun composed pages and pages of diatribe, castigation, and curses against those who teach and pollute the young Jewish minds with secular knowledge. Today probably thousands if not tens of thousands of Breslovers pray and articulate these words every day! Be aware!

This should drill home the utter evil and danger of secular knowledge.

Today as science manifests its exhibitionism of its measurements and computations, producing tools and devices, it becomes harder to retain the realization of how superficial all of it is, really just an assembly of the empirical in a mechanical fashion so that it can serve humanity in some way. In a previous post Machine Angels you can see how all the services these new robots are providing and many more, were all provided for Adam directly via spiritual forces of angels, and every physical entity is in reality empowered by a spiritual one, and it is a terrible handicap to be blind to the reality and only see the superficial physical shell and credit it for more than what it is, a slave. All the external knowledge of the sciences and all the fields and disciplines studied in the secular world, are simply just that - slaves, at the service of the true inner purpose, nothing more. Don't mistake it from what it is, don't be misled. True it may contain some amazing facets, such is the nature of the creation of G-d Almighty, but in no way does it even begin to touch the true wisdom of the Torah. Every letter of the Torah is true living wisdom of creating value - not simply empirical, stagnant, and dormant. There is a great deal more to be said....

When HY took the Jews out of Egypt, He could have brought them directly into the Holy Land which neighbors Egypt, directly North - on top of Egypt. Instead He led them on a very circuitous route.

The Torah talks about this and explains, that there was a concern that if the Jews would directly confront and battle the Plishtim who resided in southern Israel, they would retreat to Egypt. That is what is understood from the verse, however a literal reading of the verse gives a different reason, which because it is not readily understood, it is disregarded and explained as above. The verse says that HY did not take them by way of Plishtim BECAUSE it is close - i.e. the verse is not saying that the proximity is a reason for it to have been chosen, but on the contrary, the proximity is the reason that it was rejected as the entry route.

So how is the close proximity the reason to forgo it?!

Every nation has a unique characteristic, the Nations surrounding the Holy Land have very strongly overt evil ones. Whether it is promiscuity, idolatry, lust of food, etc.. These are all very dangerous, but they are also BH far and distant from the Jewish consciousness. The Plishtim however represent a morbid dominance of the empirical even as it is construed by the imagination and deviations of fantasy and conjecture. In Likutay Nanach chapter 370 I bring many cases where we find that the submission of the Plishtim, and escaping their rule, was always brought about only through great mocking and wild antics and shenanigans, and this was the only way to escape the clutches of the dominion of powerful delusions of reality that the Plishtim had.

Today this klipa has taken hold of most of the western wall who are not just enthralled with the sciences and cinema, they are completely enslaved to this venue.

This is the klipa that is so close to us, it is so hard to see past what our physical eyes seem to be seeing - as we are told and led to believe by the scientists and the cinema. The world has such empathy and compassion for this worthy cause of keeping life to the confines of the depressed sentiments of their sensual desires.

Even as the soldiers fight valiantly against the Plishtim, they sing of Samson who took revenge on having been blinded by the Plishtim, and these soldiers lunge forward even more blinded. Samson was blinded by the desire of his eyes, as our Sages revealed that this was his undoing, he went after his eyes, thus falling straight into the hands of the Plishtim. Today all the excited right activists, whether they are fighting in arms or in the media, as they fight outwardly, on the inside, they have already lost and capitulated to the Palestinians. It is almost comical, if it wouldn't be so sad and pathetic.

There's a great more to be said, but if only you would properly contemplate this...

Difference between 49 levels of tuma and 50

HH our Sages revealed that in Egypt the Jews sunk to 49th level of impurity and had they been there just a bit longer they would have hit 50 and it would have been over. But now that we have been given the Torah we have the ability to survive even the 50th and that in fact is where we are.

Possibly the 49 is what the Egyptians were completely living the occult of black magic and demons and the like. This created an atmosphere of complete evil. Even still, that itself could be determined - that it was their own invention and creation. The 50th is when the evil is not based on demons and the like but science and philosophy which explain everything in the universe establishing heresy as the defining power of the universe. The Egyptians couldn't do this, their evil little souls didn't have the breadth to build that system, but they set the stage for the Jews to develop it. So HY had to hasten the redemption before the Jews would bring the occult of the 49 to the utter heresy of the 50th.
Since the Torah is the blueprint of the world, no science or philosophy can successfuly dominate in its presence, the sciences are slaves to the blueprint.
Even still it is very challenging. Science and philosophy has crept into our thinking, the way we think about things and how we associate our knowledge and understanding of what goes on around us. Someone completely enveloped in the Torah would be protected but for a few hundred years already almost no one had the the strength and ability to do that.
Rabbainu's teaching are the utter antedote. Because Rabbainu shows the roots of the Torah, and he shows where the heresy of the scientists and philosophers are rooted, where they are leeching from, whether it is from the Vacated Space or the Fallen Broken Letters, and so forth.
Even still, as we fell even deeper, and became completely enveloped in the 50th - the Vacated Space which G-d Himself chose not to be seen or realized, even the holy powerful teachings of Rabbainu are insufficient and can not dissipate the forces of heresy, the Vacated Space is powered by G-d Almighty, no system of holiness can be supported. There is only one thing that can overcome the VS, and that Rabbainu started to reveal in Likutay Moharan, is the song of the true tzaddik. The song is known to the Jewish soul, that is why all the children of Abraham are called Ivrim, because they can leap over the VS, but this is only the soul - subconscious level. The tzaddiks song actually peerces through the VS and rescues the souls caught there, injecting them with the Emuna - faith the antithesis of the VS. This is in LKM, but it is also only on a soul- subconscious level, only in the holy Petek did Rabbainu come straight out and reveal the holy song of the tzaddik. Na Nach Nachma Nachman Me'Uman.

Show this to the scientists!

The scientists are constantly seeing how erroneous all their theories and "facts" are. Recently in the news they reported that einstien's theory that there are no spooky stuff going on in the logistics of nature is about to be proven wrong as evidenced by an experiment in which rotating a particle in one place resulted in the rotation of distant particle. In any event the Arizal revealed (Shaar Hagilgulim, chapter 25) that the the mountains are constantly growing bigger or shrinking, he also revealed that sometimes they will split in half -- all of this depending on the state of their supernal officials.... so much for nature....
