Likutay Moharan - Torah-teaching 40

Likutay Moharan Volume 1: Torah 40

Likutay Moharan Volume 1: Torah 40

“These are the journeys of the children of Yisrael” [Numbers 33:1]

[In the language of our master, Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, of blessed memory]

It is brought in the holy book Asarah Ma’amaros (Ten Utterances [Kabbalistic work by Rabbi Menachem Azariah da Fano]): “These are the mas’ai (journeys [spiritual movements]) of the children of Yisrael” because they sinned in “these are your gods, Yisrael” [Exodus 32:4]. Because of this, the children of Yisrael shall journey. It emerges that all the nesiyos (journeys) of a person are because of the kilkul ha’emunah (spoiling of faith [lack of trust in G-d]), which is the aspect of avodas alilim (idol worship [service of foreign powers]). For if he believed with complete emunah (faith [spiritual trust in G-d]) that the Holy One, blessed be He, can prepare for him all his needs, he would not journey any nesiyah (journey). It emerges that nesiyah (journey) is a kilkul emunah (spoiling of faith), which is the aspect of avodas alilim (idol worship). And this is what is written regarding avodas alilim (idol worship): “Go out, say to him” [Isaiah 30:22]. “Go out,” this is the aspect of nesiyah (journey) and tiltul (movement [displacement]). Also, through tiltul (movement) [effort to rectify], he rectifies the tiltul (movement) that he caused, [kivyakhol (as if)] above [in the spiritual realms], as it is written: “And the maseikhah (molten image [idol]) is narrow as it gathers” [Isaiah 28:20]. Also, through avodas alilim (idol worship), the matar (rain [divine abundance]) is withheld, as it is written: “And you shall serve other gods, etc., and there shall be no matar (rain)” [Deuteronomy 11:16-17]. And when there is no matar (rain), there is no sava’ah (satiety [abundance]). As it is written: “The mountains shall bear shalom (peace) for the people” [Psalms 72:3], as Rashi explained, then no man helps his fellow. And each one needs to journey and move from place to place for his parnasah (sustenance [livelihood]). Also, golus (exile [dispersion]) comes upon the bittul Torah (negation of Torah [lack of study]), as it is written: “My people are golah (exiled) for lack of da’as (knowledge [Torah wisdom])” [Isaiah 5:13]. And through avodas alilim (idol worship), comes the atziras geshamim (withholding of rains), and when there is no kemach (flour [material sustenance]), there is no Torah [Avot 3:17].

Parler Nanach

 HH

Going to try migrating from Facebook to Parler.

https://parler.com/Naanaach

First post today:

HH every Jew must make the 42 travels that were traversed in the desert. In the Story of Ancient Times of the King's son and Maidservant's son Who Were Exchanged, Rabbi Nachman revealed further how many travels and exiles and encampments and so forth are needed to bring the truth to light and fruition. In former good times they got around on their feet, today we surf the net with our fingers, the different platforms are our exiles....

The Last Journey of Dr. Gevald's Nanach Mobile

HH

On Monday September 2, 2012, I set out from the Swan Lake towards Montreal, at exit 30 of the Thruway, I turned off to get gas, because the car was completely empty. There was no gas there, and some guy told me that the nearest gas was exit 31 - 13 miles away. So without a choice I booked over to exit 31 and I arrived at the pump with the last spurt of gas, so I thought I made it - I put in some gas, and resumed the journey, but I didn't make it very far before the transmission wiped out, just as a shoulder appeared on the side of the road. There was a house in the distance, but I was separated by a fenced hill and the Booulet River. So first I hike off in a different direction and I find a camp site with the burial site of "Zack the best dog in the world". Eventually I headed over to the house, which was not inhabited, but there were some people in trailers behind the house. - The cell phone I have didn't have "minutes" and I tried to add minutes but was unable - the whole night I wasn't able - another bad experience with AT&T. As I approached the house I saw a police car pull up to my car - but I was to far to do anything about it, I tried 911 and got cut off. So this older couple in a trailer let me use their phone, but I couldn't call Canada, and everyone I was calling wasn't answering, finally I got ahold of my cousin MW who tried to help but there wasn't much he could do. Meanwhile I also got through to the police and I told them where I was, they told me to return to the car, after making some plans for what would happen, I headed back to the car, about half way there the police drove off, later the officer complained to me that he wasted a half hour waiting there for me. Another officer told me that he saw me praying there - that must have been Mincha which I did as soon as I was stuck on the shoulder. Back in the Nanach mobile I tried playing around with some prayers, and the car actually moved a few feet, but that was it - today the tow truck guy told me that he examined the transmission and it is completely wiped out, he also thinks that the gas wasn't the whole problem, because there were other tragedies going on as evidenced by leakages of oil. Eventually a policeman came and told me that I should never have left the car, especially since it was very dangerous because there are bears and what not out there, obviously he didn't know about G-d or for That matter - Na Nach. The tow truck guy came and I gave him the car in return for the tow - he left me off at the Essex County Correctional Facility right off of exit 32. Cleaning out the Nanach mobile was a lengthy ordeal, and I also salvaged the stereo. The police were not happy with my being there and told me that they wouldn't give me very much time, they didn't want me using their phone so they directed me to a nearby diner - which was closed, and the adjacent gas station didn't have a phone. There was a guy who pulled up for gas - Li'im, he was very nice and he let me use his phone, and I told him about Nanach. Li'im plays the cello. On the phone I got through to Avi in Montreal, but he couldn't get a car. He got busy calling people, but didn't succeed. Then a Jew from Williamsburg driving a van with his whole family pulls up, he's looking for the house of a Rabbi Lifer - it's supposed to be nearby - but he can't find it. So Liim and I keep at it, and then another Jew from Williamsburg or Monroe pulls up - he's a regular at this gas station, he also heard of Lifer but didn't know his whereabouts. Then a lady cop pulls up, and I tell her you probably came for me - that's what I figured because all my stuff was sitting by their station and I had been gone for some time. She said that she had come to show someone where the gas station was, and she asked me if she could help me in any way. So, nothing to lose, I asked her if she knew where Rabbi Lifer's house was. She said sure - there's only one house here and there's a rabbi there - and it's right there.... Liim is really getting a taste of Nanach now! Then the gas station attendant came out to tell us that he's closing soon at 11:00, and he hears what's going on - and he apologizes to me, saying that he didn't know that I was looking for the rabbi - the house is right there, its open 24 hours a day, with coffee and tea, he's excited about this, as are we all - 2 Chasidishe families in their vans, the Korean (?) gas station attendant and Liim... So Liim has to get going, and B"H he'll be following up on Nanach, and the Chasideshe's drive over to the house - where a third family appeared (I don't remember when they made their appearance, it is possible that they had also been with us the gas station), and I got all my bags from the penitentiary (amazing how earlier I had this discussion with someone about things that cause a person to be incarcerated C"V, as posted recently in nanach.net - and how even in today's time this happens to Nanachs - straight up!) and head over to the Hachnasas Orchim, where I am entertaining the families till about 12:30. The house has a phone and (maybe this is a secret so I won't write it.....). That's the wraps on the first part of the story, B"H there will be a very happy Nanach ending which of course will be a beginning.
Great blessings of Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman!

The epilogue is that the guy helped me find a ride to Montreal (paying the fare - 2 people actually drove right past) and has since been in contact with me and has given me more more money B"H.

The Way to Uman

HH

Rabbi Nussun said he would go to Uman to Rabbainu even if the roads were paved with razors....

So one of my friends wrote to me:

S.G. My son's mashgiach told him last Elul that if he sees a movie on the way to Uman, then its not worth going. My son told him that R' Nosson said even if the road was paved with knives etc - The movies on the plane are like the knives in the road.Simcha Hochman HH the knives can refer to haughtiness, as it says in the Torah (devorim 33:4) חרב גאותך
The tzadik is the humility in us (Likutay Moharan).
NNNNM

It is brought down (don't remember exactly where) that there were a group of chasidim that were trying to make it on foot to Uman in a time of extreme danger and they had to go at night very surreptitiously etc., but they refused to forgo any nuance whatsoever of Judaism, they insisted on immersing in the mikva every day and not missing out on the reading of the Torah or anything, which meant that they often had to backtrack to a previous place. But I'm not sure if they made it.

The Praises of Rabbi Nachman - part 2 - His Voyage to Israel 26-27

HH
Shivchay HuRan
Part 2
26.
And on their voyage from Galutz to their home, they traveled by way of the Holy community of Yas (-Iași the second largest city of Romania), and there was a big epidemic there (-of typhus), and they had great suffering in every single city and in every single town. And it was also difficult to cross the grenets (-border, in Yiddish) because of this, because then, even holding up quarantine (-actual word used!) wasn't effective for (-against) this from these types of places. And Hashem Yisburach was to their succor, and they were saved from everything, from pestilence, and sword (-war), and famine, and thirst, and captivity, for all of these they had (experienced). And with the kindness of a Hashem they escaped from all of them, and they came to their house in peace, "peace in his body, peace in his money, and peace in his Torah (-The Torah says that Jacob arrived "shulaim-complete," and our Sages (Shabbos 33a) enumerated; complete, i.e. healthy in body, complete i.e. not wanting in money, and complete in his knowledge of Torah, the Hebrew word for complete is very similar in many aspects to the word shalom-peace, and often they are interchangeable, and on this very verse Rabbainu interchanges them in Torah 27 of Likutay Moharan), because he merited to wondrous hasaga (-spiritual conception) in the Land of Israel, extremely enormous and lofty, infinite to no end and no tachlis (-purpose).

27.
Until here we related a little, a tiny bit like a drop in the ocean of the enormous troubles, and adventures, and the huge dangers, and the severe suffering, and the great fears that Rabbainu o.b.m. had on his voyage to the Land of Israel, on the way there and back. And Hashem Yisburach was to his succor, and did with him wondrous, awesome miracles all the time and at every moment, and he merited to finish completely what he desired, and "he entered in peace and departed in peace (-said of Rabbi Akiva's ascension to paradise)," and he came to his home in peace.

The Praises of Rabbi Nachman - part 2 - The Order of His Voyage to the Land of Israel 15-16

HH
Shivchay HuRan
Part 2
15. And after a day or two the boat was left without drinking water, because all the drinking water that was on the boat was finished by them, and they only had left but one vessel of filthy murky water, and bugs were crawling in them, and these waters were apportioned to the people on the boat in rations, one ackee (t.n. the Ottoman's have a: çeki - 225.789 kg (497.78 lb), but probably didn't ration by weight, so this is probably referring to the Turkish word for tea, there should have been another word given to specify which tea measurement, but presumably it would not be the teaspoon, but the Tea glass  = ‘Çay Bardağı’ (CHAI’ BAR-dah-uh) -  this means a small glass Turkish tea glass, whichever was on hand (i.e. there is no set standard, just the general size of tea glasses)) - per person, and they were in great danger of thirst more than all other dangers, so the men, women, and children prayed from the depths of their hearts, and again a great storm wind whipped up, and it brought the boat after two 24-hour cycles to the Holy Land, to the shores of Jerusalem, to the holy city of Jaffa. And Rabbainu o.b.m. wanted to disembark there from the boat to go to Jerusalem together with the aforementioned Sage, as mentioned above, but from Hashem there was a factor, and the Ishmaelites did not allow him to enter to them, because they looked at is clothes and upon the countenance of his face, that he has long pehyos (-sidelocks), as is customary in our country, and that he does not know their language and so forth, and they said that he's certainly one of the French spies, and no appeasement or supplication were to avail, and Rabbainu o.b.m. remained on the boat.

And the captain planned on staying there with the boat, to hold up and rest there for some days, and it was then two days before Rosh Hashanah, however, the boat was not able to stand there, because the waves of the sea wanted to overturn it, and no remedy or scheme was to any avail (for this). And the matter was a great wonder in the eyes of the captain, and he asked: "What is this? And why is this?" And the Sephardic chuchumim (-rabbis) answered him, that there's a tradition in their hands, (from a continuum of transmission) man directly from (the mouth of) man, that in this place the prophet Jonah son of Ameettai was cast (overboard). And the boat was unable to stand there that night, and they were forced to move with the boat from there, and they went from there, and they came in the evening, the night of "Zichor (remember) bris (the covenant - This refers to the Slichos - special prayers said the night before Rosh Hashana)," to the holy city of Haifa, and they stood by Mount Carmel opposite the Cave of Elijah, and in the very early morning ("ashmoares haboaker," Exodus 14:24, the last watch/quarter/third of the night) all the people said Slichos with great joy, and afterwards they prayed the morning prayer (-shacharis), and afterwards they all went to the holy city of Haifa, men, women, and children.
And then Rabbainu Hakadosh o.b.m. entered the Holy Land (t.n. from a strictly halachic viewpoint, when the boat was in the harbor it was already in the Holy Land, obviously there is extra significance in actually walking on solid ground, and this is beyond the scope of these mere glosses), to the place which he longed for and he yearned for with very, very great craving, and longing, and yearning, and he was moaser nefesh (-self sacrifice) thousands of myriads of times for this, and he jeopardized his life for this. And the greatness of the enormity of the joy that he had in that moment, that he entered and stood on the holy ground, is impossible to fathom in the mind; if all the oceans were ink etc. they would not suffice to explain a fragment of the fringe of this, because promptly and immediately he attained what he attained, because he said, that immediately when he walked four cubits in the land of Israel, he accomplished what he desired to attain.
And after midday they went to the mikvah, and afterwards - to the synagogue, and they tarried (there) until the night, and when Rabbainu o.b.m. came to his house, to his lodgings, he had very great and ecstatic joy, and every single moment he said to the man that was with him: "Fortunate are you, that you merited to this, to be with me here." And he ordered to have read and mentioned before him from the note all who were inscribed there, i.e. his whole retinue who gave him notes with their names. And they ate there the feast of the night of Rosh Hashana, and everything - with great joy, until after the feast, until they lay down to sleep.
And in the morning they went to the synagogue, and after they came from the synagogue, there aroused in him worry, and a very broken heart without measure, and he did not speaking an iota with any person.
16. And immediately after Rosh Hashanah it was the desire of Rabbainu o.b.m. to return immediately to his home, and he did not want to travel at all anywhere, not to Tsfas (-Safed) and not to tiberias, however, the man that was with him, had a very strong yearning to feast his eyes on the places of the Land of Israel, and he came to Rabbainu o.b.m. and said to him, that there is a caravan that they can go with to Tiberius. And he (Rabbainu) answered him: "You have yearning for Tiberius - go charter donkeys." And he did so, and he gave them a down payment ("adruf").
And upon his return from the owner of the donkeys, he (Rabbainu) said to him immediately: "You chartered donkeys(?)."
He replied: "Yes."
Rabbainu o.b.m. said to him: "Promptly and immediately go and take from them the down payment, and if they do not want to return it to you, then leave the down payment forfeit, because I do not want to go there;" And after 2 or 3 hours the aforementioned man that was with him fell into great weakness, may the Merciful One save us, and then he gave praise and thanks to Hashem Yisburach for preventing him from going with the aforementioned caravan.

The Praises of Rabbi Nachman - part 2 - The Order of His Voyage to the Land of Israel 13-14

HH
Shivchay HuRan
Part 2
13. And Rabbainu o.b.m. said, that he got so into the puerility, and got so used to the childish things, so much so that afterwards when he came to the land of Israel and he wanted to discard it, he was forced to force himself with strengths (of his character) to break and to discard the aforementioned childish things, because it was already difficult for him to discard it because of the great regularity - so much he had gotten into the puerility at first. Also afterwards, when he came from the Land of Israel, he was a wondrous novelty in this matter.
And the enormous superlative greatness of his wisdom in this matter (was) - deep, deep, there has not been heard nor has there been seen such as this, because it is known that before one departs from one level to (the next) level, there needs to be a descent before the ascent etc., and then one needs matters of puerility, to be a completely simple person etc.; and he o.b.m., because all his days he did not stand any time on one level, just every time, everyday and every hour, he would ascend always from level to level, therefore his wisdom in these matters was extremely lofty and deep; "deep, deep, who can realize it (Koheles 7:24)."
14. And then, at that time, it was the war of France (the French Campaign in Egypt and Syria ( 1798–1801) by Napoleon Bonaparte), that France went to the land of the Togar (Ottoman Sultan, as explained previously), to Egypt, and to the land of Israel, and so forth, as is well-known, and when the people of Istanbul heard that the aforementioned war is awakening, and the French are on the way on the sea, thence the holy community of Istanbul did not want to allow any Jew to leave the walls of the city and go out to put out to sea, but Rabbainu o.b.m. did not pay attention to this, and he wanted to act with abandon ("mafkeer") of himself, and he said to the man that was with him: "Know, that I wish to endanger myself even in great and enormous dangers, however, I do not wish to abandon your soul (-life); therefore, if you want, take money for expenses, and return peacefully to your home, and I will travel alone in secrecy and in concealment from the people of Istanbul, because myself I abandon, be what may be etc.." And the aforementioned man refused this, and said, "In the place where my master will be, whether for death or for life, there your servant will be;  and where you go I will go as well."
And Hashem Yisburach in His mercy "He turns around inductions (Job 37:12, a very reoccurring theme in the books of the Ramchal)," brought about in His mercy, that after a day or two it was heard: Being that there in Istanbul was staying a Great Sage from Jerusalem, who collected by hand donations for the poor of the holy city of Jerusalem, and he had been planning on staying there for another year, and suddenly he was aroused and said to the people of Istanbul: "Know, that it has been revealed to me, that I must travel immediately to Jerusalem, because I see, that the days are impending ("stirring and coming") for the (-my) departure from the world, and you (-plural), do not fear the French nation, and you have nothing to worry about for an Israelite to go there (-to Israel), because certainly there will not occur to them any harm, with the help of Hashem, and Hashem will guard them with His mercy until they arrive there, because the place of my burial is already inscribed to be in Jerusalem."
And immediately they heeded his words, and they went and chartered a large boat, and they announced: "Whoever wants to go on the boat - should board." And many men, and women, and children went, both from the sphardic people and from the ashkenazic people, and Rabbainu o.b.m. also traveled with them on this boat to the Holy Land, and Rabbainu o.b.m. spoke with the aforementioned sage from Jerusalem that he should take him to Jerusalem, because he said, that he does not want to be, not in Tsfas (-Safed) and not in Tiberius, and so they resolved secretly between them.
And as they traveled on the sea there was a very great storm wind which is called "a very great afirtineh (-this word was also used earlier in article 9, it is the Turkish word firtina, and can mean a gust, tempest, hurricane, storm etc.)," and the boat was in great danger; "they rise to the heavens, they descend to the depths etc. (Psalms 107:26)," and no one retained in their heart  (conception) that they would be saved from death, and they were all screaming to Hashem; and it was one night like Yom Kippur mamash, with everyone crying, and confessing, and asking for atonement for their souls, and they said slichos ("veniality"- liturgy special for repentance) and other items of prayers and beseechings; but Rabbainu o.b.m. sat silently. And some people started to tell him, why does he remain silent in a time of such a plight, and he did not answer; however, the wife of the Rav of the holy community of Chutin, who was educated, and cried and screamed the whole night, also began to tell him like those, why is he silent - and presumably, he cursed her, and said to her: "If only you (-plural) would also be quiet, it would be good before you; this is the test: if you will be quiet - the sea will be quiet from you as well." And so it was, and they ceased from screaming and they were quiet, then immediately at daybreak - "He stood up the storm making it silent and their waves were quiet/still. And they were happy etc. (Psalms 107:29-)."

The Praises of Rabbi Nachman - part 2 - the order of his voyage to the land of Israel - 10-12

HH
Shivchay HuRan
Part 2
10. The general matter is that these two aforementioned men denigrated him o.b.m. with all types of degradation etc., and he bore it all, and did not want to reveal to them in any way who he was, and he deceived them intentionally and confused them very, very much, until they would degrade him every time for his changing accounts each time. One time he spoke with them, until it seemed clear to them that he was from Lagorna (-a city on the Italian border), and afterwards they saw that it was not so, and they degraded him very, very much; and one time he spoke with them, and it seemed to them that he is the son of the Kamarner, that is, the son of the Maggid of Kamarner, who was in a great quarrel then, as is well known, and afterwards, in middle of the conversation, he o.b.m. began to curse the Kamarner. And they scolded him: "Behold he is your father!" And they saw that they still have not figured him out. And every time he had a different name, and with every name they called him, he answered them and came to them. Suddenly they would let out from their mouth and call: "Yishayuh," in order to test him if he is the son of the Kamarner whose name was Yishayuh, and he of blessed memory came immediately to them, and it seemed to them that certainly he's the son of the Kamarner, and they said to him: "You are certainly the aforementioned's son." And he replied to them and proved to them that he is not his son.
In the meantime they began to speak of the gift that the Kamarner sent to his son, and he o.b.m. began immediately to request and implore there that they should show him his gift, and they saw again that he is his son, and afterwards they spoke with him more, and he (Rabbainu -in the Hebrew there is a typo - they) cursed him, and they were very very shocked/confounded, and they came with great anger, and they degraded him very, very much; and when they asked him: "Why do you say now that your name is such, and afterwards - a different name, and so too with the name of your origins (-place)?" And he answered them likewise, "That every single name is according to the attribute and the Sefirah (-Divine attribute) which it incorporates etc., and I, Baruch Hashem, am replete with all of them.
And everything that transpired in this matter, vast amounts of pages would not suffice to relate it. And he o.b.m. would wake them up sometimes from (their) sleep, and begin speaking with them, until they came to great anger, and they began to curse him more and to degrade him severely. And on the day preceding the holy Shabbos they came from the Mikvah ("house of immersion"), and he o.b.m. was lying on the bunk barefoot, without a belt and without a formal ("top") hat, and he asked them: "Why is it that the whole week my body is light and I do not have heaviness, but now I have very great heaviness, to the extent that I can almost not get up from this spot?"
And they answered him: "Because every erev (day proceeding) Shabbos Kodesh (-holy) this neshama (-soul) ascends above, and the extra neshama comes down, but by you your neshama went, and the extra neshama you do not merit to receive,  therefore your body remains like a stone."
And he replied to them: "Oy (-woe) upon you! That even on a simple matter like this you do not know what to answer."
And he requested from them that they should receive him for Shabbos by them, but they did not want. And on Shabbos they received the man that was with him, by them for Shabbos, but him they did not want to receive, and he was forced to eat dairy foods, because they did not want to eat meat there; just they (-the two men) had some shoachet (-ritual butcher). And also on Shabbos they had a very great dispute with them, and they wanted to push him out, because he entered by them even though he did not eat with them, and they started to fight with him, until they wanted to push him out, and there was a great commotion there; and also in the morning, it was also like that.

The general matter was, that he o.b.m. acted intentionally, and he allowed himself to be degraded with all types of shaming, and he said to the man that was with him that these degradations would be a great benefit for him on the way there (-to Israel) and on the way back, because the greatness of the enormity of the huge impediments that he had in going to the Land of Israel, is impossible to fathom, or to measure, or to relay, and it was not possible (for Rabbainu) to come to the Land of Israel except through this littleness, as was heard afterwards from his mouth explicitly. And he said, that if he did not have these degradations and the littleness, it would not have been possible for him to come there in anyway; and he said, that he saw that he was forced to remain there in Istanbul, that is, to die there, but this littleness and the shaming saved him, because before one comes to the Land of Israel etc. as mentioned above.
Afterwards Rabbainu o.b.m. ordered the man that was with him, that he should give to the aforementioned men who denigrated him as mentioned above, from their food, and beverages, and various dishes, that they had with them, to give them from everything. And these men traveled to their homes, and they did not want to take a letter from Rabbainu to his home, just from the man that was with him they took a letter, and Rabbainu placed his letter inside the letter of the aforementioned man, and these men wanted to open the letter of the aforementioned man, perhaps they will be able to understand from it some matter of Rabbainu o.b.m., who he is and where he's from, but they were not able to find the letter by them, because it disappeared from them (from) where they placed the letter, and the letter did not come to their hands until they came to the kamer (-inspection room) in Volichai (-a city on the Romanian border), when they found the letter by them, and they saw from the letter, that this had been Rabbainu o.b.m.. They saw and were positively astounded and very confounded (-Psalms 48:6); and that man who degraded him copiously as mentioned above, came to his home and passed away very close to his arrival.
11. And immediately after they (-the two men) embarked from Istanbul, the aforementioned agent came to him (-Rabbainu) and showed him many letters from the tzadikim of the generation which they sent to him with the request that he should help the people that travel from here to there (-Israel), because he is influential in the eyes of the royal ministers.
"Therefore know: If you reveal to me who you (- plural) are and from which family you are - it is fine, but if not - I have the power to do with you bad which you will not be able to amend, and no fortune of monetary bribes will help; and not only will you not travel to the Holy Land, you will also be in jail," and similar words like these.

And when Rabbainu o.b.m. heard this, he immediately told him the truth, that his name Rabbi Nachman, and he is a grandson of the Baal Shem Tov o.b.m. and of Rabbi Nachman of Hordainke o.b.m.. Immediately the aforementioned agent retreated and left him, and on the morrow the agent came with subservience to him, and he said to Rabbainu o.b.m. in an expression of love and fondness: "Rebbe, Hashem is with you! Know, that all the benefits/favors you will receive from me, and your reward is double for this, that you revealed to me the truth, because if you would not have admitted to me, I would have given you over to the jail, and I would have been punished in this world and in the next world; and I request of you (-respectful plural) to receive goodness from me, whether it be with purchasing passage on the boat, or with other things, because I am ready and prepared to serve you."
12. And on the next day he came and said that a boat came from chutz-lu'uretz (-anywhere outside of Israel) with Jews, and they also have a distinct (-highly qualified and experienced) butcher, and there, on that boat, was the Rav the Chusid (-pious) the famous, our teacher the Rav Zi'aiv Wolf may his flame shine, from Tcharney-Austria, and other important people, and they asked about Rabbainu o.b.m., and the man who was with Rabbainu o.b.m. revealed to them the truth, and immediately the aforementioned Rabbi Zi'aiv sent after Rabbainu o.b.m. that he should come to him to his lodging and he will receive him with love to stay with him together, but Rabbainu o.b.m. did not want to go to be by him, because he said: "Here is good before me," because in Istanbul he did all types of puerile things, and he went about barefoot and without a belt and without a formal hat, and he was dressed just in the "inter-shlack" (-inner lining) that he had from some garment, and he would go about in the marketplace in the way of the youth, who run and play in the marketplace, and he waged recreational battles as the youth do, and they would call one person by the name of France, and another - with a different (country's) name, ‎and they waged war, and it was like actual tactical battle, and he would do very many puerile things there in Istanbul.
Afterwards the plague fell, may the Merciful One save us, in this "chan" i.e. courtyard, and he was forced to flee from there. And he was forced to enter the lodging of the aforementioned Rabbi Zi'aiv, and he (R.Z.) made for him a great feast, and the aforementioned Rav, Rabbi Zi'aiv accorded him very, very great immeasurable respect, and Rabbainu o.b.m. did many things then that were against the desire of the aforementioned Rabbi Zi'aiv, but even still (Beraishis Rabah 55:11)- "love distorts (-disregards) the line (-manner of course)," and because of his enormous love he did not pay any attention to this, even though it was great wonderments in his eyes, because every time Rabbi Zi'aiv would pray before the lectern (-lead the service) on Shabbos, as is the way of the famous rabbis, Rabbainu o.b.m. would eat at that time, because he would pray earlier, so that when Rabbi Zi'aiv was praying, he o.b.m. would eat his meal.
And so it was on the night of Shabbos, and on Shabbos morning, and by the third meal of Shabbos, and when Rabbi Zi'aiv sat down for the third meal, Rabbainu had already blessed the grace after meals (-birchas hamazoan), and ordered the man that was with him that he should see you whether there were stars (-nightfall, the end of Shabbos, is officially determined by the visibility of three medium sized stars. However, in all probability Rabbainu would have been accustomed to end Shabbos 72 minutes after sunset, which in Israel is much later than the appearance of three stars. So this instance is cited by many as a precedence to not having to keep the full 72 minutes), and he immediately prayed arvis (-night prayer) and made havdala (-ritual separation between Shabbos and the weekdays), and he took the pipe and entered into the house of Rabbi Zi'aiv, and he (R.Z.) had recently began the third meal, as is the way of the famous rabbis (-to begin the third meal late (this is also somewhat based on their keeping Shabbos at least 72 minutes after sunset)). And immediately when Rabbainu entered there without a formal hat and without a belt and the pipe in his hand, the aforementioned Rabbi Zi'aiv immediately received him with great honor, and promptly blessed the grace after meals, and prayed arvis, and made havdala, and spoke with Rabbainu o.b.m. almost the entire night, and there was great love between them. And Rabbainu o.b.m. did all types of puerile things there as mentioned above, and there, he was by the grave of Rabbi Naftoli o.b.m. (Katz, author of Smichas Chachumim and many other works including poetry and songs, a huge kabalist and holy saint).
And everything that transpired over him in Istanbul physically and spiritually, many folios would be insufficient to tell it over, and according to what can be understood from his words, he was in enormous and dire danger there, and he thought that for certain he would remain there, that is, he would pass away there, however, Hashem Yisburach did with him many miracles, and he traversed over everything, and the aforementioned puerility availed him tremendously. Also when he came from the grave of Rabbi Naftoli, he fell suddenly to the ground, and he lay that way for many hours, and afterwards they placed him on the bed, and he lay there the whole night until midday of the morrow, and he lay as if he had died, until Hashem Yisburach helped him, (so) that he got up from his bed and returned to his strength. And he had great dangerous, many and enormous, and unlimited impediments there at all times and at every moment, and he said, that the aforementioned degradations and the puerility availed him tremendously as mentioned above.

The Praises of Rabbi Nachman - part 2 - The Order of His Voyage to the Land of Israel 8-9

HH
Shivchay HuRan
Part 2
8. And on the 18th of Eyar (Lag BuOmer, Friday, 4 May, 1798) he embarked from his house, from the holy community of Medvedivkuh to the city Nicoalayev, and there was a boat there for wheat, and he traveled with that boat by way of Odessa, because previously the fundraisers and other people feared traveling by way of Odessa, because they said, that the sea (-the Black Sea) is dangerous in that way, and he in his great wisdom understood immediately that it was better for many reasons to travel by boat from Odessa, because it shortens considerably the distance that there is from our country to Galutz (-name of the coastal city in Romania), (and) also one is saved from the danger that there is when traveling from Galutz, for there is great danger when descending from the River Tuna (-Danube) unto the sea, as is well-known, therefore he did not pay any attention to what the world says, and he traveled from Nicoalayev by way of Odessa to Istanbul.
9. And he ordered the man that was with him to buy a lot of paper and ink, and immediately upon their arrival on the boat he began to write Torah (-his own holy insights). And he warned the aforementioned man that he should not read at all from his writings, and the man was forced to give him his word, and then he (-Rabbainu) trusted him, and gave him the key to the chest. And on their way out from Odessa, very many people escorted them there with great honor, and many wagons rode after him, and they accompanied him with song, beverages, and very great joy.

And upon their arrival at the boat, and they put out to the Black Sea, immediately in the first twenty-four hours there was a huge "partina," that is, a stormwind, until the waves leaped upon the boat, and they were forced to be in a tightly sealed room because of the water, that they shouldn't come upon them, and there was lightning, and thunder, and immeasurably strong winds, and there was great fear from the din of the thunder, and the rain, and the crashing waves, and because of (the) fear it was not possible to sleep at night etc..
And after four days they came to Istanbul and they stayed by the shore, because they did not know which house to enter, because they couldn't differentiate between Ishmaelite and Jew, they couldn't ask because they did not know their language. And when they saw there that they are staying by the shore, they went and found a man who was a translator, who knew our language as well, and he was the interpreter between them, and promptly they rented a good lodging in the section called Galeetuh. And when they went in there, after an hour or two, he said, that he does not want to stay there. And the interpreter asked him: "Perhaps it is good before you to be in Istanbul proper, that is, in the Royal City where the residence of the Togar is (-The Jews originally called Turkey after the name of the grandson of Yefes son of Noach - Togarmah (Genesis 19:3) brother of Ashkenaz. Later this was redacted to Togar, and hence the Ottoman Sultan is referred to as The Togar)," and there no married couple was allowed to go (there), except for males alone. And he replied, that there it is certainly good before him. And he (-interpreter) reveal to him, that there is a "sha.du.r." (shiloochuh - messenger i.e. a fundraiser, dirabunun - of the rabbis) from the Land of Israel, and with them (-perhaps a mistake and should be: him) another two men from our country, that were in the land of Israel, and now they were returning to their homes, and they were traveling from the land of Israel to outside of Israel; and when he heard this, he o.b.m. said to the aforementioned man that was with him: "I am warning you, not to reveal me whatsoever, and do not say at all who I am, if they ask about me."
And they went out from there to the aforementioned city, and upon arriving there, immediately one of the two aforementioned men that were traveling from the Land of Israel to their homes, recognized the man that was traveling with Rabbainu o.b.m., and he asked him: "What are you doing here?"
He replied (to him): "I am traveling with this youngster to the Holy Land."
And he asked him: "Who is he?"
And he replied (to him): "He has a passport from the Consulate (-the official) of the Ki.yr.u. (Kaiser, may his eminence be raised) of Austria."
And he did not want to reveal to him who he (Rabbainu) himself was, like Rabbainu o.b.m. had warned him as mentioned before. And it entered their hearts regarding Rabbainu o.b.m. that he's traveling from the consulate to oppose the famous chasid (-very pious) holy luminary, our teacher Avrohom Kalisker o.b.m. and his company (-Rabbi Avrohom was the main disciple of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Vitipesk, and he declared the newly published book of the Tanya, of the first Lubavitch Rebbe Shneur Zalman, unfit to be printed and necessitating gineezuh - respectful disposal of holy worn out or faulty items, the author threatened in retaliation to withhold all the charity for the Holy Land collected in Russia and Europe which he was appointed over and would normally send to R.A.K. who was in charge of distributing the funds in Israel),  and they entered (further) into this error until they had great proofs for this, according to their mistake, and it seemed to them as if he o.b.m. was sent by many people in order to oppose him (R.A.K.).

And they began to probe by the aforementioned man who was with Rabbainu o.b.m. if he has a letter (-of introduction), and he replied that he does not. And they asked him: "What is his intention with this trip to the land of Israel?" And he replied, that he does not know his intention. And they did not want to rely upon the aforementioned man anymore, and they said, that also he is tricking them, and they said: "Even though we knew you in the past to be a kosher man, but now we no longer know if you are still holding to your sincerity. And they asked him: "Did you ask your Rebbe, Rabbi Nachman of Medvedivkuh (-Rabbainu) whether to travel with this man?" He said to them, "Yes." However, they already did not rely on his words anymore as mentioned above, because it seemed clear to them regarding Rabbainu o.b.m. as if he was a man of deception Heaven forbid, and he is traveling to oppose the people of the land of Israel.
And they went to him o.b.m. in person to probe by him who he is, and from where he is, and from what family - but he did not want to reveal anything. And they spoke to him with their cunning and they wanted to probe by him in many ways in order to extract from him some word to understand from him through this who he is, and he replied to them on all the questions with his wisdom, and they couldn't extrapolate anything, and he confused them very, very much, and deceived them and warped their minds, until they couldn't get any bearing on him whatsoever to understand from him not a thing nor a half a thing.
And every time he made himself appear to them as someone else. For example, when they asked him if he was a Cohen (-from the progeny of Aaron the Priest), he replied, "Yes." Afterwards, on the next day, they asked him suddenly if he was a Yisroel (-that is from the other tribes of Israel who are not priests), (and) he replied, "Yes." They asked him, "Yesterday you said, that you are a Cohen, and now you say that you are a Yisroel (?)." And he replied, "Cohen  - this is the attribute of kindness, and Yisroel - a different attribute, and Baruch (-blessed is- used in thanking) Hashem I have in me this attribute and also this attribute." And they said to him, "It is apparent that you are certainly from the antagonists, and you don't want to reveal it."
And they began to hate him in the acme of hatred, and they degraded him with all types of degradation, and they cursed him with searing invective immeasurably and incalculably for many days, and most of the shaming was from one of the two aforementioned men, and he o.b.m. began to request of them, and said to them, "This you should know, that's certainly I will not reveal the main intention of my voyage to the Land of Israel, because from my heart to my mouth I did/will not reveal (-Tikunay Zohar 21 page 50b), and even still 'how good and how pleasant is the dwelling of brothers even in unison (Psalms 133:1),' even though one does not know the main intent of his friend."
And they replied to him, "If you reveal to us your intent, certainly you will be afforded very great benefit."
And he replied to them: "I don't want to receive benefit from you, and I will not reveal to you my main intention in anyway, on the contrary, you can receive benefit from me, if you desire."
They replied to him: "It is apparent from your words, that you speak in the dialect of the greatly renown, like Rabbi Baruch (-of Mezhbizh, the grandson of the Baal Shem Tov, and the uncle of Rabbainu), and Rabbi Shalom (-of Provisht, son of R' Avrohom Malach, son of the Maggid of Mezritch), and Rabbi Nachman (-Rabbainu), etc., whose way is to speak grandiosely in third person (/hidden meaning), however, certainly you are not one of them, because it is apparent that you are certainly from the opposers of the aforementioned tzadik (-R.A.K.)."
And they told him that before he arrives in the Land of Israel there will be a letter there in the Land of Israel that he is from the opposers and the spies, so that he cannot trick them. They also went to the agent of the boats, and he was from the men of Poland, and he married a woman of the Franks (-Sephardim), and his mother-in-law was a regular visitor ("exited and entered") in the house of the Togar (-Sultan), and this man was an important personage there; and these aforementioned men went to this agent, and requested of him, and they said to him: "For the sake of Hashem, do not allow this man to travel there, because he is from the opposers, and he wants to make a banishment there Heaven forbid, and if you can do him some evil, your reward will be twofold from Heaven." And Rabbainu o.b.m. and the man who was with him did not know about this.

The Praises of Rabbi Nachman - part 2 - The Order of His Voyage to the Land of Israel 5-7

HH
Shivchay Huran part 2
5. On the day preceding the festival of Passover of the year 5558 (Saturday, 31 March, 1798) our master and leader and Rebbe o.b.m. exited from the Mikvah, and he said to the one who went with him, that in this year he certainly will be in the Holy Land. And on the Festival of Passover he said Torah on the verse (Psalms 77:2), "And Your path is in a plethora of water and Your footsteps are not known," and he asked from the beginning of the verse on its end (t.n. first the verse says where the path is, and then it says it is unknown), and he said Torah on this in answer to this question, and from the words of his holy Torah it became known to all those that came to him, that certainly he would travel to the land of Israel.
6. And when his wife heard this, she sent her daughter to him to ask him, how is it possible to leave them, who will support them? And he replied as follows: "You will travel to your in-laws, your older sister - someone will take her to be a small servant in his house," which is called neyunikeh (-nakhozha nyan'ka, is the Ukrainian word for babysitter, although sitter by itself is nyana, it appears that interchangeable), "your younger sister - someone will take her into his house out of compassion, and your mother will be kitchen help/cook, and everything that is in my house, I will sell it all for travel expenses." And when his household heard this, they broke out into weeping, and they cried many days, but he had no mercy on them, and he said, because/that it is not possible without this, be what may be, he will certainly travel, because most of him is already there, and the minority goes after the majority. (And he said in these words: "vehrren (when/being that) dey (the) grestey (greater) helfit (half) iz (is) shoyn (already) dort (there) etc.). And he said: "I want to travel to the land of Israel, and I know the greatness of the impediments and the obstacles that I will have on this, immeasurable nor calculable, however, as long as my soul is inside of me, as long as I have the spirit of life in my nose, I will sacrifice (moasair nafshey) my soul and I will travel with all my strength (to) there, as long as my soul is in me I will travel there, and Hashem - will do what is good in His eyes."
7. And he said: "On every single step of  the Land of Israel voyage I will have self sacrifice (meseeras nefesh)."
And he said: "I want to travel immediately, however it may be, even without money, however, whoever wants to have mercy on me will give me money for expenses." And immediately the fellows of our fold (a.na.sh. - anshay shloamainoo) traveled to the nearby towns and collected promptly some amount, in order that he should have in any case for the expenses to travel from his house, because the trip had great urgency, and they saw that it is impossible to procrastinate him in any way or any time whatsoever. And he embarked immediately in haste (zreezoos) from his house on the 18th of Eyar (Lag BuOmer, Friday, 4 May, 1798), and secretly together with one of his men they resolved that he would travel with him together.

The Praises of Rabbi Nachman - part 2 - The Order of His Voyage to the Land of Israel 1-4

HH
Shivchay Huran
Part 2
The Order of His Voyage to the Land of Israel
1-4
The Praises of Rabbi Nachman
Part 2
The Order of His Voyage to the Land of Israel
1. Before he traveled to the land of Israel he was in Kaminitz. And his trip to Kaminitz was a great wonder, because suddenly he embarked from his house and he said, that he has a way before him to travel, and he traveled from his house in the way one travels to Mezhbizh. And he said, that he himself doesn't know yet where he's traveling. And he traveled to Mezhbizh, and in Mezhbizh he was notified from Heaven, that he needs to travel to Kaminitz, and he traveled to Kaminitz. And all of his travels were with simplicity, like the way of regular people, without any lordliness and without any publicity, even though he was already famous then in the world, even still he strongly warned the men who traveled with him that they should be careful not to make it known anywhere that he is traveling, and they did not know in any place where he was that he was there, because he traveled inconspicuously like the way of the merchants. And he was in Kaminitz.
And then, at that time, it was not permitted for any Jew to live in Kaminitz or to sleep there in the city, just, all the Jews lived outside the city, and whoever had any business inside the city, would enter into the city in the day, and he was permitted to be there the whole day, and at night all the Jews were forced to leave the city, because it was not permitted for any Jew to sleep there, as is well-known. And Rabbainu o.b.m. entered into the city with one man who was with him then, and he was there until the night, and at night he ordered the man that was with him, that he should leave the city, and he o.b.m. remained there alone inside the city, and he ordered the aforementioned man, that on the day of the morrow he should come into the city and find him there. And he o.b.m. slept there alone inside the city, and no living soul knows what he did there.
And then the next day the aforementioned man entered into the city and found him there, and afterwards he o.b.m. entered with the aforementioned man into many (many) houses, and they made some sort of pretense to enter there, and some of the houses they ordered to give them whiskey or the likes, and they were inside very many houses, and there is no person in the world that knows his intention of what he did there (t.n. except of course for the author of the book Tormented Master who has everything figured out in the most crude way); and afterwards he traveled from there to his house, and afterwards, after Rabbainu o.b.m. slept there, from that time on permission was granted to the people of Kaminitz to live inside the city.
2. And Rabbainu o.b.m. said: someone who knows why the land of Israel was first in the hands of Kinaan and afterwards it came to the hands of Israel, he knows why he (Rabbainu) was first in Kaminitz and afterwards in the land of Israel.
3. And the trip to Kaminitz was a very great wonder, and the whole world said interpretations on it: some propounded positively, and some etc. - but they all erred. Even those that said praisingly did not get his intention whatsoever, and even those that knew a little because he himself revealed to them some hint, even still they did not know his intention completely. And he already said an apt construct pertaining this, regarding what the world always mistake themselves in him with all that he does etc. (Life of Our Leader Rabbi Nachman 200).
4. Some said that he made the trip in order to find the writings of the Baal Shem Tov, that he closed off in a stone, and some people say that they are hidden there in Kaminitz, and they said, that he traveled there for this. And he o.b.m. scoffed at this, and he said, that he didn't travel at all for this, because he doesn't need them whatsoever, and he said, if he wanted those writings, they would bring them to his house, however, he has no need for them whatsoever.

Diligence in Torah Study

HH
Just now by the holy shrine of Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman I was praying to merit to study and learn a lot of Torah, and the gabbai of Tosh approaches me and wants to share with me a Torah he just learned from the writing of the Arizal (Prey Aitz Chaim on Purim), so as I heard him out I was thinking, wow, on the spot Rabbainu is hooking me up to already begin learning Torah. It gets better. The piece is about the letters Samech = 60 and Eyen = 70, which spell out the word SA - go, embark, travel. So I showed him what Rabbainu revealed in Likutay Moharan, Torah 188, that when a person screams to Hashem Yisburach they tell him SA! [This is a song for this holy Torah: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRdWRzG9MDU] Here I was screaming to HY and Rabbainu told me SA - go and learn! NNNNM!

This fellow also feels that if more ice cream was served by the holy tomb there would be more screaming [regarding ice cream check out this informative video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlLScZAn5U8https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlLScZAn5U8] like there was in previous good years when people really felt their deprivation, but this year this almost no screaming, except for a little very near Rosh Hashana. Apparently everyone is already relying on the holy petek.

Kifeetzas haderech

HH in good old times tzadikim would race around with kifeetzas haderech, with the advent of the automobile this became almost obsolete.
Later when people did the walking with their fingers online tzadikim would zap lightning down and uploads, but with the advent of 4g and higher this is also becoming somewhat unnecessary.
What remains seems to be only in the realms of the mind where only tzadikim are found to begin with, while the  rest of the world gets caught up and bogged down in augmented and virtual reality the tzadikim will be doing hyper speeding in the supernal worlds of holy consciousness.

More travel adventures

HH

The flight from Kiev to Israel was 11 am, so I ordered a taxi in Uman for 5:30 – the trip is 3 hours. There were delays and I only arrived at the airport at about 9:15. After replacing my Nanach rings after passing security I soon realized that I somehow lost one, may HY replace it speedily (this is apparently a מקום מיועד לפורעניות – a place of misfortune – because previously I had lost some cable by the security, but B”H I retrieved it). On the way I had done an online check in, but I still had a bag to give them, so I was waiting in the line, up ahead there were problems they were charging someone for his baggage and for overweight and he wasn't giving in so easily, and meanwhile people had found ways around the side, and I remained stuck till about 10:25 when my plane had already started boarding. So I step up and the lady tells me that I have to pay $60 for a bag, and I try telling her that the UKRAINIAN AIR website states explicitly that the first bag is free – but to no avail. Meanwhile it is already 10:35, and the guy behind me is extremely jittery and begging me to just let him go. So I give her my credit card to pay the 60, but in the Ukraine they need you to key in your code, and I haven't used it in years, I try something, but it didn't work, I open my laptop dig into a file, find some more codes, no go. Meanwhile the lady had printed out a boarding pass for me – either based on my online check in, or figuring that my credit card was going to go through. So now she hands me my credit card and my passport and boarding pass – it's 10:40, and I ask her what to do, and she just shrugs helplessly. So I strengthen myself with the power of the holy petek, and I proceeded to security where they stop me and say no you can't take this – B”H from my vast experience and faith, I knew that they were just referring to the cart, so I left the cart behind and barreled down to the gate with my knapsack, laptop, suitcase, and bag of food. At the gate I had to pass by two more inspections, and I proceeded to the plane, where once again I was stopped, and they asked me to wait outside with my suitcase, but B”H they just put in the cabin, and I picked it up from the conveyor belt.

Adventures of travelling to Uman for Rosh Hashana 77

HH
Checked in a bag 25.5 kilo inside was 16 kilo of the booklet  Rabbi Nachman of Breslov; Who He Was & What He Said - 300 copies, 2.5 kilo overweight, BH they didn't say anything - at the exact same time they told the person next to me that they must reduce the weight of their suitcase and take things out. Also they let me by with a bag of about half a box of the booklet besides for my carry-on and laptop. BH. So I was inviting and encouraging everyone to come to Uman. After I passed customs there was another official who I invited to Uman and she asked but you're going to Berlin (I was very early for my flight and probably all those there were going to Berlin) - so the lady from the customs opens up her cubical and sticks out her head and says, "no, he's going to Uman!" NNNNM!

El Al made the check in in a terminal 1, which is an added schlep, but it turned out for the best because the WiFi there is much much faster and I was able to upload probably over 20 Gig. (of private Nanach videos for those who merit), BH.

On the flight the girl who was supposed to sit next to me decided to find another seat even against the flight attendants first wishes, as I watched amused and laughed hard enough for mlthe benefit of perhaps the entire airplane, and they replaced her with a young professor of economics from the Golan who told me that he was in Uman two years ago and that he was a big fan, and he was very pro inculcating Rabbainu into the education system.

On the way to Uman, a first timer said that they thought it was a six hour drive, and we laughed - it's only three, then a tire busted (-this was our tikun chatzoas) and we had to put on a spare and proceeded at 70-80 kph. It took us probably around 4.5 hours.

Travelling Nanach Style

HH

Just when I thought I have seen it all, Rabbainu showed me that I am just getting my feet wet. First I tried to barge into the gates section showing just my boarding card as a pdf on my phone, I completely forgot that you need to first run that through the computer and get a printout, they weren't so happy about that. So I went in line, and I was very excited, I had a wad of holy peteks in my hand, and an open sefer of the Ramchal, holy of holies, and I couldn't stop from prancing about in delight. The guy probably realized that I was high, he just couldn't figure out the Nanach part, he asked me if I had received anything and I told them I had a nifty stash of the holy petek with me, he asked me if i had bought them or got them as a present, I told him the Nanach's have them around and so i helped myself, but I would have been glad to pay, whatever it would cost, it's very well worth it. So he asks me where they are in my bag. So I tell him everywhere, I stash them everywhere, and he's mulling this over, and asking more and more of these sorts of questions and I realize I have an opportunity of inoculating Nanach into this dude, and he's having great difficulty, so he goes to the superviser for a consultation, but she's in middle of briefing a bunch of the regulars, so he has to wait, meanwhile about 200 people are waiting while I dance about with my stash. He came back for some more give and take, and got an earfull of Nanach, and went back to wait on his supervisor some more. Finally she comes over, and starts the whole thing from the beginning, this time I'm already warmed up, (why were you in Israel? Because I'm Nanach - pointing to all my Nanach ornaments- and Rabbainu is all about the Holy Land, in fact....) and she gets to know about how I was originally charedi, and then Rabbainu had mercy on me and I was brainwashed (I told her that in Hebrew that is Shteefas moach), and so on and on it went, until I got her giggling, and I did a little bout of my roudy laughter, and continued educating her about my life as a Nanach, inviting her to Uman, and to find me a shidduch. They kept looking over my passport and I was praying and dancing, and reassuring myself in the merit of NNNNM and the blessings of my holy friends. It was really gevald - somewhere in the middle Hazamir revealed himself in the long line watching the show, and gave a holler - I wanted to introduce him to the supervisor, possibly as a character witness, but the situation didn't present itself. It was a pretty crazy ordeal with security, B"H, unfortunately we can't video these things. So all the times she's getting surprised, like with the fact that I was originally chareidi, and a bunch of other things, and as we're wrapping things up, she says so now you're going home, and I figure that she's catching on that Rabbainu is home, and I say, forsure, Rabbainu is home, and then she finds out I'm going to Uman - the whole time she thought - I don't know how i was going home! Surprise surprise, it was just hilarious. B"H. Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman!

Later going through the real customs, I got a guy who was a very big fellow, and he was in middle of some transaction with a friend, when I popped in, and his face was full of puzzlement, baffeled, really strange. He saw my brand new passport, and asked me in wonderment how I entered the country, so I revealed to him, that I had an old passport, then he's asking me for a students visa, and things are looking bleak, and I realize i'm not even holding my wad, so I quickly dig into my pockets and came out with a wad which I shuffled in front of his face shining Saba and the Petek at him, and after a few more little bits - there's some more great parts which I can't write right now, B"H he let me through, no problems....

Adventures of trip to Rabbainu for Rosh Chodesh Nissan 75

HH
The flight was leaving 6:45 am, so I went to Rosh HuAyin for the night where a friend was supposedly offering to take me to the airport. B"H got some sleep and was up for avodas Hashem but the mikva was closed and wouldn't be opening in time, so I found another mikva but it was only going to be open at 4. Meanwhile the friend said that because this was going to be the day of the elections, he was really tied up, so only if before 5 am I was stuck I should try to get to the airport myself. So I was very undecided whether to start hitching right away and forgo the mikva, B"H I got the mikva at 3:30 and then tried to hitch, after some time I realized that I wasn't standing in the best place, there were very few cars on the road, and I tried to find a better place, and all to soon it was already 5 am. So I called my friend and he said he was on his way, but after 20 minutes or so I didn't hear from him, so I called and woke him up and he said that now he was coming, but after 20 minutes or so I didn't hear from him so I called and woke him up, and this happened again. In my mind I was already coming to terms with losing the flight and trusting that all was for the best, and also trying to be strong in my faith that I HY would pull me through. More troubling was that if i missed the flight I would probably bear a grudge against this friend... One taxi wanted 150 shekel and another 130 (after I finally got a hold of them) and I had 40 shekel, and they don't take credit cards. At 5:50 my friend picked my up we got to the airport at about 6:05 when the plane was already boarding. So I ran straight to the boarding because I had done online check in, but they turned me back because I still had to get a printout and basic security, so I ran back to the check in counter, and they tell me that the flight is closed, and I see that there is a breslover already there trying to convince them to let him on. Then one of the managers who saw me running up says, you know what let them both in, but we're closing the plane on time, so it's up them to get there (about 18 minutes) -- and this in merit of the fact that we didn't have luggage just carry-on (because every bag costs like $20-40), So I run to do the intense El Al basic security, and sure enough the lady manages to trip me up, but B"H lets me go, and I proceed to run to the security check, where I have to take out my laptop from my tightly packed bag and from there on I am a flying mass of articles, because there's no time to put things together. While I'm waiting for the metal detector, I realized that I have a sitting trapped audience and I give them a full presentation about how they all have to vote today for Kulunu Chaverim Nanach Peh Tzadik, only one of the attendants gave a fight to the show, and she said, excuse me not here.... but with the utter momentum of the joy of my show I saw out of the corner of my eye, that even this attendant had to turn her face to the side and hide her laughter before trying to stop me again. They were so caught off guard, they didn't even stop me from taking in a full bottle of water, this I realized with full appreciation when I finally got to rest in my seat on the plane and thank G-d I had the water. So I got to the gate, got my ticket stub and proceeded to the plane, when I realized that I forgot to give the sales pitch to the final attendants, so I ran back, and informed them that they were all expected to vote for Rabbainu today at the elections, so one of the ladies asks me with a huge smile on her face, what about me, so I told here that I don't have voting rights, and that's exactly why they all have to vote Peh Tzadi, because if Rabbainu makes it to the Knesset maybe I'll just have to make aliya as well. Walking onto the plane I was laughing ardently with great gratitude for actually making it on the flight. So one of the chasidim says, now I know I'm on the right plane....

The Kabbalist Levi (Saadia) Nachmani המקובל לוי (סעדיה) נחמני על הפתק

HH

Morris Shushan told me that he brought the Kabalist Levi Nachmani to Saba, and Saba showed him the Petek. Levi examined it and told Saba a few insights; he told Saba that according to the Petek, Saba would be making a  big trip soon --- Saba listened  to this with great interest and in fact shortly after Saba made his famous trip to America. Levi also said that according to the Petek Saba would live till 106 (Something that Saba said more than once, that he was 106, however the general consensus is that he was actually 96 years old when he passed on, and the date on his identification had been altered to save him from Turkish conscription).
There's more to the story but that's it for now

Fishing Souls -- adventures in the life of Simcha Nanach

HH

on the bus from Chaifa to Tiveria I sat right behind the bus driver, and across the aisle was a woman I'd about 50 years old, she was yenting on the telephone. After a while I made a phone call, and the bus driver turned to me and said, either hang up or go to the back of the bus, so I told the guy I was talking to that I'd speak to him a different time and hung up. The woman was very offended and she said to me something very derogatory about the driver ending with "pardon my french".... So I told the lady that I was happy to accommodate the driver, seeing that we are only in this world for a very limited amount of time it's quite the privilege and opportunity to make life easier for someone. She was really taken by this, and exclaimed, wow where did you learn to have such an attitude?! So I started telling her about the holy teachings of Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman and we were chatting, and she exclaimed: I'm sure glad that the bus driver told us to shut off our phones so that we could talk!

There is a matter (yesh inyan -- numerical value = Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman) that turns everything around to be good!!!
