Sometimes a person's fate, by design or for punishment, is to suffer other people's crap, excuse the language. Furthermore the Zohar and Rabbainu, and Rabbi Nussun in Likutay Halachos (laws of breaking bread) revealed that the souls are dressed in garments of feces, until they merit to remove them and cleanse and purify themselves. Rabbi Nussun elaborates on the tremendous frustration and struggle such souls are confronted with, as they are constantly bombarded with this repugnant toxic impurity, which traps the souls and seems inextricable. 

Taking all this into consideration, one can understand the great benefit of cleaning toilets, in this way the person can choose on his own terms how he will be dealt the aforementioned waste, all the while cleaning and ridding it from the world.
